Honestly since I’m running 285s my rpm is lower so when I’m going 75 it’s like 2300

Interested in hearing other 2.7 owners cruise speed as well. Coming from a Honda Accord that will do 80 at 2000rpm down the highway the taco feels extremely slow but thats just something I deal with. I usually limit myself to like below 75 or so, 2800 rpm maybe

The 3rz is well known to handle high rpms. I mean they use those for boost all day. I always am in the 3k when driving I could drive “normal” I guess and stay under that but It would take me longer to get there for sure

3rz here. I do 65ish all the time. 2500ish rpm. It’s slow but I don’t need to be anywhere

As a 2.7 owner and enthusiast my view is skewed because 1. I drive slow regardless of vehicle driven and 2. I have highway gears (3.58s) with 31" tires. So at 70mph, which is the fastest I'll ever drive, I'm only at 2300 rpm in 5th gear on flat land.

If you've got something other than 3.58s obviously your rpms are going to increase. But I'll trade ya straight across for em:D trying to get going from a dead stop with 3.58s is a chore, but it is nice to be able to make each gear change take longer

3k rpm cruise isn't going to hurt that engine !!!

No... but it'll hurt the pocket book having to buy gas more frequently

These engines really need those revs to make enough power to actually keep themselves going at those speeds without lugging. I have the same engine/trans combo on 285/70/17 KM2's and with my scan gauge I can watch my water temps rise a tiny bit (2-5 degrees) on even mild hills until I downshift and the engine is happy again.

Yeah my speedo is a bit off anyways. I've used a GPS speedo to figure out that it basically starts a couple mph off in the 30-40's then it gets to about 5 off by 60.

It is due for a timing belt and water pump. I also need to get the thermostat changed. Mechanic wants $850 for all of that, money I don't want to spend at the moment. I need to figure out if the belt and pump are too hard to change on my own as I'm not afraid to try it.

Yeah that's the same here. Just under 80 it seems to hit the start of the power-band so to speak and runs with less throttle and smoother.

There are good write-ups and videos out there on how to do the TB and WP

It's mostly just making sure you have the right tools and time set aside to get it done

Oh yeah its always nice to bother em just where it hits a tender point. Maybe it's where the Tacoma driver's stereotype comes from.... my favorite is backing out of a parking space and coming so close to another person's vehicle on the opposite side that they get pissed LOL:D

Oh, no; it’s terrible but I know if I can just make it to the top... the people that passed me going up are probably in another zip code by now. I get everything from the middle finger to pity and I love it

When rolling on the interstate, I set the cruise control at 70-75 mph. The 1GR-FE is turning about 2000 rpm. I sit in the right hand lane, unless I'm passing or giving space for mergers.

A pet peeve of mine is ID10Ts setting up camp in the left lane.

If you are being passed on the right hand side, then you are in the wrong lane.
