Appreciate the replies, I will definitely give Ironman a serious look. The sale they're having is 25% off everything through the end of May, so that's a pretty big carrot. If I'm looking at their website correctly, there's only a $100 difference between the 9500# and 12000# models so the 12000# is a no-brainer for me. I'll make sure the guy building the bumper builds it accordingly. :)

The 12000# with synthetic rope is $800, so with the 25% off sale, it's $600 which is pretty close to what you said you paid Dave. There's an option for standard control box or small control box (for Raid series, whatever that means). Did you guys get the standard control box?

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I got what came with it, so it must be standard. I don't recall an option when I ordered.

I'll have to look and see how long it is. I know the breather tube easily went to the engine compartment.

He's kinda slow but I like to support our elders. So far his work hasn't killed me or the truck. :)

That's the one. I went with the standard box because the smaller one wasn't in stock. Or at least that's what the website said. I'm honestly waiting for an email from them stating there's additional shipping charges, but nothing yet. I originally was just going to do the 9500lb, but as you noted there's a small price difference between it and the 12k lb. It's always better to buy more than you'll need!

OK, so a question from the guy building my bumper. He wants to use this item as the tray for his winch and wants to know if he needs the 26" or 33" wide version. Also, would there be any issue using the Ironman with a dual pull winch tray? I guess with the bottom opening you can winch yourself to your front axle to help from tipping over on steep inclines. That's what it says in the description anyway, but it references rigs with more flexible suspensions, so I'm guessing only a long travel front end would benefit? Just wondering if the Ironman would even be able to feed through the bottom opening. Talk amongst yourselves...

I think you're okay with the smaller tray. If I recall correctly the Ironman is 23-inches wide or so.

And I don't think we have obstacles around here that would justify the dual pull. No matter the flex quotient. Someone will tell me I'm wrong in five seconds.

I agree with Dave. You aren’t going to use the bottom opening on the tray. I would use which ever tray helps your build more. So let’s say the span between the frame horns is 30” (i don’t know what it is, this is just an example) a 33” winch plate may span that gap (with some trimming) and give you a better starting platform for your bumper. Use the winch tray as a portion of your bumper instead of an added piece.

He's onto something. Build the bumper around the winch and they will come.

I think the Ironman would work for dual pull. It would depend more on positioning the winch so the rope could access the hole. I tend to agree with room, that if you're not going to be crawling Moab or worse, it's probably over kill for here. My two cents.

Haha, that was the reference I was evoking. I never know if my audience is old enough to get all my old man references. I think I was in college during the Mike Myer/Dana Carvey era.

If I buy the dual pull winch tray then I'll need to build a buggy around it

Just make sure it has supercharged LS with long travel so you can keep up with Chris.
