I think a short wheelbase jeep on 35’s is nearly unstoppable.
Stop! You love your fiat. And even if you don’t, I do.

Yea the groups I want to be a part of want minimum 37 inch tires to do really anything like the rubicon. I just don’t understand it because I used to do the rubicon fine on 33s

Wasn’t the rubicon named because it could do the rubicon in stock trim?

So I ordered 4 spherical bearings and a set of non compatible misalignment spacers. Didn't read anything on the elka threads discussed replacing the coilover top bearing - let alone the rear shock lower eyelet (where a brother from the great white north unknowingly blew out one bearing and by the time he pulled the coilover it wallowed out the eyelet and needed a new bolt4B63CF50-871D-435D-B0FC-7CC92348A3BB.jpg
    AD70EDCB-CC27-43A2-A778-47F1FA173932.jpg)!!

So my spacers were rusted in on the lower driverside bearing pretty dang well. By the time I gave up with the put spacer in vice and using a deadblow hammer on the lower coilover body, we ended up pulling out channel locks to the other spacer locked in the vice, then it took rocking, pulling and prying to get the channel locked spacer out. Went to the press and got the half spacer and bearing out...then my FiL was so set on getting the other spacer out, he grabbed the angle grinder. 20220709_195734.jpg

So in summary, yes I did break something...my will to do anything further Saturday on this "easy maintenance" task. I didn't even pull the passenger coilover.

Rears have the same setup on the bottom, joy! Damn, now I gotta pull the rear shocks some weekend after knocking out the 4 that go in the coilovers...

I'm just sitting here trying to figure out ways to unload it to my benefit....

Story time: I name all my vehicles. Even name the family's vehicles. I couldn't figure out a name for the Jeep. Anything I could come up with wasn't exactly nice. Then it dawned on me.....

We have inherited my dad's dog. He's half blind, mostly deaf, and dumb as dirt. I really try to like him and I get to a point where I'm getting cool with him, then he does something super annoying or dumb and I'm right back to not being his biggest fan. His name is Willy....

The perfect name for the Jeep. In so many way...

    My opinion…..

Depends on how you are going to use it, being, 37’s on a mild to moderate yes. A constant beating, maybe maybe not. But everyone is different as well.

I know a guy that runs 35’s on a dana 30 front. No gussets on the C’s or anything. Beats on pretty good every now and then. He has yet to have an issue (other than an axle seal leak). Others will say, no way in hell will a D30 hold up to 35’s unless it’s at the mall.

Anyone can climb over an obstacle. It’s the line you take, throttle, speed and what have you, can be the difference. Some situations require a smart attack while others can almost be a wide open shit and git. That grey area in between is where most major problems happen. To me any way.

    My rambling is over.
