That's a horrible idea. What time?
We moved up our trip to Detroit this weekend for moms memorial service by a day. 3-6" of snow expected Friday, our original travel day. It was 1-2" yesterday. And the 6-12" band stops about an hour from Detroit, so this could be an interesting weekend. Cleveland went from rain to 1-3".

I guess that's what you get when you spend that much money a roller skate with an engine.

A brand new 4x4 maverick can be had for the same price as what a new 4x4 ranger went for in 1997. It might be the best all around vehicle at that price point, AND!!! You can roast marshmallows on it

I just did the money doesn't matter build and could probably by an F150 for its price. But if a pack of s'mores are in the glove box, I guess it's a good deal.

All that said, I wouldn't want a truck that small.

Honestly, it's the perfect truck for 80% of the population. The hybrid gets insane mileage. And anyone that thinks the price high go price the Hyundai thing.

I know ford put the R&D time into this as they did with the Bronco and Ranger lines, but seeing the Maverick on the road it looks like a small SUV with the back top cut off. And i can't imagine it would feel like a truck from the seating position and ride. It is a popular and in demand segment, but I don't have a need for what would be a grocery getter like that when I have a Taco in the drive way. For some it will be a great vehicle. But I'm not ready to go back to Ford. I was cleaning up Gwen's Lincoln after our last trip to Detroit and the door panels are starting to rust on the bottom seams. It's a '17 with one Michigan winter on it. I just don't see the longevity / quality in what they're doing any more. My dad worked for Ford. I'm not sure I'll go back to any domestic brand at this point.

I think you’re missing the point.

Last year I saw a daewoo lanos for sale for $16000. I saw vehicles that should be scrapped going for thousands. And let’s not talk about the used Tacoma market. All the while there was a 4 door truck that could be had for under 25k new.

I have no idea why one would want $14k worth of options on a $22k vehicle. I don’t think one should expect much offroad capability. I don’t think ford isn’t going to have issues with it being so new. I don’t think it looks good. I don’t think it’s fun to drive. I don’t think it’s what people really want, but I think it’s all most people need.

Well said sir. At one point I was going to buy a close to stripped Maverick for about $25k. It was going to be my commuter and then I was free to get whatever as a fun vehicle. The Maverick was perfect. I think the Hybrid gets around 40mpg, and the regular one gets in the high 30s. And there was a bed on the back for honey-do crap. There's a reason they're sold out until next year. The higher end trim levels are ridiculous and at that point you're better off getting a Ranger, but there's some folks that think even a Ranger is too big.

I completely agree with you. I have no intention on buying anything right now. Every now and then I just look at something and load it up to see how ridiculous it is. More power to ya if you can afford an F350 Lariat Powerstroke for your commuter. I can't justify 90 to 100k for a car, some people can. The higher end trim levels are always, especially in the truck lines, way over priced for what you're getting. It's almost as bad as the dealer sold extended warranties. This category has the highest profit margins in the Ford (and probably GM and Dodge) line up, so people buy what's offered.

When Ford announced plans for the Bronco's, Ranger, and Maverick, I had no thoughts on purchasing any of the first gen products. Ford has a pattern of recalls on many of their first gen products. Including my Focus. And this Ranger isn't a first gen, it's modified for the US market from the rest of the world. One reason why they aren't having as many issues with it as they are the other two. I grew up on and trusted Ford for many years. Not any more. My thoughts are turning now to what I'm going to do when the retirement window opens. The Tacoma at this pace will be around 200k, and I may want a little more creature comfort for me (and the dog.)

As far as them being sold out, Ford has slowed production because of supply chain issues and over selling the pre-orders to bulk up the cash for the builds. Supply chains are still struggling to get back up to speed after Covid. Between a lack of a willing work force and economic pressures, it may take awhile to get back to where they thought they would be now. And Ford may have a political / social issue brewing as well with the aluminum sourcing allegations causing illnesses in the Amazon. That maybe the contractor's fault, but it still has Ford's name on it. I plan on staying away as I don't have the need to be there right now.

Well hello friends!! I hope to be there too!!

Work has been busy and crazy...but I was able to get a few friends to give me a hand pulling apart my firewood shed, moving and reassembling it about 35-40ft further back in anticipation of round 2 of knock down trees. Got my other buddy over Sunday and he got 25 of 33 trees down, when his front blade mount broke, unbeknownst to him this spot had over a 3 inch preexisting tear, so only a matter of time before it popped.

Took off work a few days in order to cleanup since my buddy's mini ex broke...got a lot of cutting and moving done while it's dry out!!

Thankfully his mechanic will have it back up and running in 2 weeks to knock out a few more trees, moving a few stumps I can't move/rip out entirely.
