So a 2nd gen Tacoma has 9.3 inches of ground clearance from the factory. The 3rd gen isn't much better at 9.6 inches. A 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness has 9.5 inches of ground clearance. I wonder.....

That's a horrible idea. What time?
And that's uniform across the undercarriage. No diffs hanging below the body. The Wilderness package doesn't look all cosmetic either.

Revised bumpers also help the Outback Wilderness boast an approach angle that has been improved from 18.6 to 20 degrees, the breakover angle is now 21.2 rather than 19.4 degrees, and the departure angle now sits at 23.6 degrees as opposed to 21.7.Oct 18, 2022

I went and looked at that and a Crosstrek when I was considering gas mileage and the cost of filling the truck twice a week. Nice rides, but you'd have to pack carefully of you were camp off grid for a coouple days or week. Especially with a dog to consider now.

The Outback Wilderness is about an inch higher than the regular Outback. Also has revised suspension, skid plates, etc. Actually comes with Wildpeaks! No locking differentials, but there is an X-mode that may make a difference, or it may be a gimmick. That's okay because I found a locking rear differential for it. And multiple lift kits for around 1.5 inch of lift. Heck, I've even found sliders for them.

As far as cargo capacity, I was just reading an article by an automotive journalist. He took one on a trip and owns a Tacoma as his personal. He was saying the Outback would be his choice every time for camping.

And then I found a video of two wimps off-roading the Subaru and a 4Runner...

Good thing he had a spottero_O
I had to stop the video because none of us drive that timidly, and I got road rage just watching it.

I may or may not have called him a few names. I'm pretty sure I would've tried that last section in the Outback. And I for sure would've done it in the 4Runner.

4Lo? Locked diffs? Really? I want to go shut him down in my MT SPORT Taco. That doesn't look any worse than Peters Mill run.

Before I got the truck my Outback was my adventure mobile. She's mostly just a DD now.

Playset is being built Friday…just a bit of 4x6 leveling; tonight we are laying down the ground fabric and then gotta dump the 20yds of soft playground mulch inside.
    6C5138C4-4171-4BEB-8721-CD7B6FACC5C1.jpg
Of course, in my grand plan, I was supposed to already have done the above…and since I didn’t finish it last weekend, we got the 20yds of regular bed mulch delivered this morning, which now has to be moved so the playset guys can drive up to the area. So glad it’s daylight savings!!!

There's only one way to start a trend. And that's to be a ground-breaker....
