I agree it sure seems to be dragging along...plus I'm heading up to DMV for used Accord shopping FRIDAY:boom:...it's finally time to replace the civic hybrid! It sure is a damn shame I have to go up there or trek down to the Research Triangle or Greensboro, NC to find a "decent deal" (some of these prices are damn near new 2021/22 prices!).

And if the drive up 95 and back isn't enough, I'll likely get to have fun puddle jumping between locations scattered across NOVA and Maryland, plus shutting down eager and pushy sales people...it should be the cherry on top of the Shity week.

I like Hondas and all, but they're not my first choice when it comes to looking for a commuter. I was looking at Civics when I bought the Matrix. Everything I found was ridden hard and put away wet. Even the low mileage examples. The Matrix isn't perfect, but it was a good choice. Super low miles, fairly clean and the price was right-ish. I had to go a little older, but that was fine with me. And I'm getting 33 mpg. Close enough to hybrid for me. The Civics I looked at were a little better, but not enough to make it worthwhile. Just my nickel.

Totally open to alternatives...just really enjoy Honda's generally, had friends with late 80's and early 90's Civics and Accords, my dad and sister have CR-Vs they both really enjoyed, dad's trading out for a Lighting and sister upgraded due to needing a larger suv with the addition of their second child late last year.

I should've just taken off Monday and/or Tuesday since a few top choices were sold overnight!!!!!!! Since it's like that...I Figured I'd go and test the waters, bc everything down my way is thousands above everywhere else in the 200 mile search radius...I really just need to find a personal sale option, but those don't seem to be panning out either. Really not trying to haggle either...so any spots to avoid or be guided to, dealership wise wouldn't hurt either.

The biggest downside is I can't bring it home to the neighbor to inspect, and don't know of any worthwhile mechanic that would be willing to look one or three over prior to even considering moving from testing and touching to into the dreaded finance office. I did learn back with the Taco, don't tell them you're paying cash, and also have to balance being nice enough, but also calling out/cutting off their BS, my BiL is great at haggling and "dealing" with car dealers. I guess these processing fees are basically unavoidable here, so I've been asking for an out the door pricing breakdown...these processing fees are basically a grand added to the "sales" price, what a racket!!!

I would offer to take a look at whatever you find up here, but a mechanic is best. I overlook things all the time. I honestly don't know that buying up here would be cheaper. In my recent experience, the "fees" were higher and so were the prices. At least in this immediate DMV area. They would stop to drop off as I moved south. I tried everything to haggle, but it wasn't happening.

Similar accord year, engine, mileage were coming in at or under KBB/Edmunds/Carfax estimated price (plus I went ahead and did the KBB instant cash offers for the ones I'm looking at, so I know what Market Price is...) and the ones in Bad News are literally thousands above those in NC and DMV. Again, time will tell...plus I'm still not sure how the 4.15% Sales and Use tax for vehicles doesn't seem to match what they're showing me the taxes would be (and yes at least on has a separate line item for title, tags and registration). Figured there's either locality or additional "NOVA" taxes that apply?!?

Trying to not fret, again not deadset on another Honda, but I'm sure I'll let the sales folks push other options on me to test out.

By no means am I trying to push anything, but I had a good experience with Honeycar. Everything on that lot was clean and looked taken care of. don't know what the budget is, but this is on the lot in Richmond: https://www.myhoneycar.com/vehicle-...sport-special-edition-richmond-va-id-51239561

It looked to me like it needed peddles and training wheels. But I don't know much about bikes, so...
