I have to replace the front crank seal and I’d like to upgrade something along the way. since general maintenance is boring, here are the mods I’m thinking about to make the job feel worth while.

Nst crank pulley- not sure how much bang for the buck I’ll get but it’s anodized aluminum

eletric fan and radiator- getting rid of the bulky fan and shroud would be so nice for accessing the front of the engine. I think I’d try to mount a generic gm rad and fan with similar dimensions but have little knowledge on the subject.

not sure if these would be improvements or just a waste of money to add some aluminum bits.

Might as well if you're pulling those parts off anyway.

Do a lot of research on the e-fans. I was going to do it for mine, but felt the solution was kind of clunky. A joint ended up making a full kit, but it wasn't much better.

Fortunately for the Silverado the later models had e fans. Little swapping over and a quick software change and bam! Just like OEM.

You might find your e-fan missing Sunday morning if Chris is there.

He would have to buy it for me first. I'm still old tech under the hood.

Check out MS overland youtube about when they totalled their taco. He actually got a little $$ back for mods.
That radiator I got from underdog racing is pretty great if you end up not going the electric route. I think they even make a drop in version now. I had to buy a FJ shroud and reservoir to make mine work.

Spending someone else's money is always fun. Sil. hoses and a new alu. rad. https://www.coldcaseradiators.com/products?search_api_views_fulltext=toyota

Understand the the freeing up some space, but without access to a dyno for before and after (mod) pulls. You will never know the outcome, just the seat of the pants if any. I remember from years ago (Land Rover world) Some guys had very good luck with the e-fan and shroud from the ford Taurus. I forget the model year but it came from the 3.8 engine. Apparently that fan would suck some air.

Nothing wrong with old tech.. It just works. My youngest kiddo now has and old school fan and thermo clutch just for this reason. The e-fan couldn't keep up this past summer. Slapped it on, been all good since. Got lucky as I had one laying around for a different vehicle all together.

Oh yeah.. kinda the same subject but different vehicle.. Without pulling the left front and searching for my new metal on metal, intermittent rotational sound. I could spend some monies and a few hours to change out what I think it might be. or'err, spend a crap load of monies on locked and regeared (complete hub to hub) Front an Rear axels. A helluva pipe dream, but a good'n.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
That was teh mid to late 90's at least. We had one. It was my wifes car that we kept when she got anew one. It became my commuter. Ugly dark green metalic with tan interior. Good engine for regular maintenance issues, but the rest left some to be desired.

The scientific method in action! If you have some loose dirt, we can cover the logs to give them some stability.

@03dumdum JT how would you describe conditions? Lumpy and overgrown? Flat and mown? Little bit of both?

And before Chris chimes in, this has nothing to do with the Silverado.
