If I just had to look at a vehicle I wouldn't care but if I had to work on it I would. I'm hoping its irrelevant to actually passing the inspection.

@Tiny's Taco, I doubt they'll ever ask me but If they do, I'll show them my engine bay that never gets washed haha.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I finally did mine with a soft approach. Presoaked it and light rinse. I can just open the rear doors. I had a wave reach just under the door handles, and it's still there. Did enough to not get the suit dirty getting in / out. When I bought the truck, I got asked if it ever got dirty. They've stopped asking. Now it's "Where'd ya go and you had fun?"

Maybe lol. I brought mine to be inspected right after coming from Chris's place and the underside was covered in mud. Sway bar I reinstalled for inspection was clean as a whistle, so it stuck out like a sore thumb

yeah seems a bunch of people have had mixed results, I just didn't want to go back if the particular place I went was a stickler for the rules. Front was easy enough to throw on, but the rear was a pain so I left it off

If you look at what's required for a safety inspection, you might fail depending on the mud.

I'd recommend you clean off all of your lights, including fog lights and lic plate lights. They can fail you if they are covered in mud.

    I failed because I have
    1)LED in halogen head lights
    2)LED license plate lights (<- that’s stupid)
    3) RTT blocking 3rd brake light.
Completely forgot a year ago my truck looked much different for an inspection. I guess I’ll take the rack off, get the 3rd brake light recall from Toyota and an inspection. Cup half full right?

Our trucks come with led brake lights! It’s dumb you can’t replace others to led.

It specifically states about the LED or HID bulbs in halogen buckets. I just found that out a few weeks ago. The other LED bulbs? Petty.

I don't know where you guys find these inspection joints, but man you get failed for the dumbest stuff.

Hell I've had LEDs in my civic halogen housings for 3 years+ now, and even through the dealership (free state inspections for life) haven't failed me once in 13 inspections.

They all seemed to be having a pretty crappy day. I should’ve gone somewhere else when I called ahead and said I was coming for an inspection and the guy on the phone said “Okay, hurry up” haha.
The inspector also said there was no way he’d pass a brake light on my RTT if I installed one and that I’d have to take it off.

I can’t wait to tell you about the “RS tag light not secured” this weekend

I get the 3rd brake light, too. That was why I took way too much time to wire up that one on my tire carrier. Wish I could pull that off for you. It's already wired up with a t-harness that plugs into the taillights.

Wait a fucking minute! He said he wouldn't pass it if you added a 3rd brake light?! Does he fail people with a camper shell?

To be specific, I said “what if I mount a light here” (in red) he said “no it has to be center on the highest point, which is here” (in blue 4 inches higher) and said he wouldn’t pass my idea unless I got a State trooper to tell him it’s okay.
    17115F65-0DED-44F8-804C-30EFDA9EF077.jpg
Ironically enough, he suggested I get a camper shell instead… to which I said “Na, I’m just gonna take it off and put back on once you pass it.”

Ha. Your idea is exactly where Randy has his. I'm kind of curious where this dude is getting this stuff from.
