I like them at first. And then I notice the "American car" flourishes.

To be fair I would probably kill for a '66 split window with the 427.

Yeah, now you're talking. Or a 57, anything from that era is iconic.

Completely missed the fraud stuff yesterday. Sorry that’s happening to y’all. FDIC doesn’t cover you or the bank for fraud like this. Since it was wired, they can’t recover funds so it’s on BB&T or y’all. If BB&T finds out y’all gave PII to a fraudster over the phone it’ll likely be on y’all. If it was an error on BB&T, it’ll be on them and their “fraud reserves”. I’d not re-mention anything about giving anything to anyone else, if that did happen.

Are there any protective measures for a wire transfer? Like; can it be stopped, can the receiving bank be notified, can it be tracked?

In most cases a wire can only be stopped if caught quickly within the hour. The bank sends the info to FedWire (Fed. Reserve) and they process in real time. It sounds like that’s already occurred.

Your bank may be able to send a request to “ask” for the $ back from the receiving F.I., but in cases like this (fraud) the other party has likely already “cashed” the money. The other F.I. can’t/won’t return something they don’t have.

The bank will have a copy of the receiving institutions info (Acct & ABA #, bank name, name of the person receiving and country). They will likely have a tracking number, we call it an OPF (Open Payment Framework) number, but your bank may call it something different.

Well we will see how BB&T handles this. I feel they should have been able to: discern between them calling us or a scammer the two times we called them to ask; stop the transfer since we notified them within 5 minutes of it; explain how they wrote us a cashiers check for the amount stolen 24 hours later if our funds hadn’t been retrieved. My opinion (which is useless) , the lack of customer service on the banks part is what failed in this scenario.

I hope it’ll work out. Do you know if the person who wired the money did it online or over the phone?

Sorry to hear, Man. I had a loan with BB&T years ago (Been paid off years ago). I still get emails saying my account has been locked, for to many unsuccessful access attempts. This all digital age is going to screw everyone in one way shape of form.

I got hit from USAA a few years back. people went in and got monies (5-6K) outta my home equity line and other accounts. I never heard the outcome, but USAA took care of me and had everything taken out, back in my accounts in a few days.

Hope you all get it all straight.

Welp BBT removed the money from my other bank somehow. Neither bank can tell me how they did it, but they did.
