Damn, this sounds interesting to go to... I'm on the tundras.com forums and the NE forum is dead. My Tundra doesn't have lift/tires... any chance it'll work on Cape Cod?

Got a CO2 tank, deflator, jack, xbull traction boards, recovery straps, shackles...

You will do just fine! As long as you air down 99% of the open beach can be tackled with a RAV4.

Possibly 5-8ft long period swell should be hitting the cape on the 10th. So if you surf, throw your boards on top or in the bed :). And watch for those periodic larger sets for those who like to play closer to the water

Looking good for me. Do you know how much we need to air down to? I need to get a deflator. And yeah I'm so looking forward to this.

Is anyone gonna meet up to travel together?

I think I went down to 15 last year. I'm on stock wheels. Not terrible there are air stations. I just use the back of my pressure gauge.

I'm coming for the day from Providence so probably won't caravan unless you're coming out early Saturday instead of Friday.

Whats the general game plan for everyone? I have a camp site booked Friday and Saturday; wasn’t sure who else got a site and when they plan on arriving.

Coming from northwestern CT if anyone feels like convoying.

I’m headed out around 1 from Albany. I’d caravan but I also got 3 kids in the truck and would drive people nuts with potty breaks and stuff.
Game plan is to get there Friday, setup camp. Drink some beers by the fire. Head out Friday am 8-9ish and get passes at the Ranger station and play it by ear. Some people will want to fish, some will want to explore.

So I just arrived and checked in I'm at site 238. I asked the clerk about the ranger station to get the permit to drive on the beach. She wasn't sure if it was open because, get this...there was a plane crash at the beach yesterday....and holy shit.

Race Point Road is closed at the intersection of Province Lands Road while the National Transportation Safety Board investigates the plane crash at Provincetown Airport on 9/9/21. Race Point Beach and oversand entry points in this area are also closed.

    upload_2021-9-10_15-15-44.jpg

This red line was me - it looks like THAT would be where the closure is ....

And from the NPS site - updated today

So it looks like ... we could get to the beach but we can't get permits, at least as of right now? I haven't called rangers at all though.

    Because 4 posts isn't weird.

Called ranger station OR "hotline" and they just say "closed".

The 1 mile from the ranger station out to the lighthouse is open - but it's a moot point, I think, since ... you can't get there.

@Sasquatchtaco ee are at the end of the main drive in. #268 and Nick is next to me.

So someone from the airport posted on FB the road will be open tomorrow from 6am to 9 and closed 9-6pm the remove the plane. My hope is we can get in at 7, get permitted and either get on the beach (and be stranded there till 6) or at least have a permit to go over to high head. But IDK if the Ranger station will be manned tomorrow AM at all.

Worse case, I am taking the kids and dog out to one of the Provincetown branches. Maybe get out on the shore Sunday and deal with getting home later than I would like.

I still owe you 20 bucks from BHM.

At least you're in Provincetown and have a normal campsite - you have stuff to do and a place to kip up that isn't the parking lot at the top of the hill. Have a good vacation!
