    Also in, interested in what the price would be.

    Do you think you could add another place to mount an antenna on the other side? Then I could mount a long range gps antenna and calm my OCD down too...

    Found it thanks, i like the clean look and thoughtful design. Was planning on adding a mount to my Thule rack crossbars but I like this permanence of this, plus if I pull my shell it could stay on. Since they just stopped making my truck 2 years ago reselling it (planning on owning this or some 2nd gen for the rest if my life, but you never know) would be easy. Ive been thinking about that when considering any mods these days.

    Can't do that...well..you could do a VHF and a gps. But not two separate VHF ones, you'll get interference.

    All types of antennas operate best with a full ground plane, not just ones for CBs.

    It seems like it would only be support for half a ground plane. The antenna broadcasts a 360° signal. Mounting the antenna in this location would tend to make the signal directional so to speak.

    Well kinda... the two antennas would have to be for different uses. You might be able to get two VHF antennas to work but would need to run band filters and run each on very specific freq ranges or something. That would be more headache then it is worth... Transmitting from two antennas that close together would be problematic at best. Instead of running HAM off the brake light mount I was thinking of running WiMAX or a Mobile Phone repeater.

    Then if you add a second mount maybe XM, GPS, something that is receive only. I still plan to have two whips, one for CB and one for HAM.

    I have 2 ham antennas and a cb. From my research they need to be a minimum of 19" apart.

    Maybe I should have been more clear... the CB and HAM antennas would not be on the 3rd brake light.

    19" is a good minimum, any closer and you will have issues to deal with. Further apart is better.

    Right, but with my regular cab, I'm not getting much of a ground plane regardless. This is just an alternate to drilling the roof, and it's better than a hood or bumper mount.

    I've also had my antenna mounted to a headache rack, only a couple inches away from where this mount would be, and it worked fantastic. If anything this will work a little better.

    I had all mine mounted to a bar that was close to the roof. They worked.
