3rd brake light leaking into rear seating storage

Dealer & toyota know of this leakage, robot torqued a little too hard on fasteners. Anyway, dealer wantted $500 to put in new assembly. I just wantted it sealed! So, i did a real neat job, cleaning exterior with denatured alchohal and applied neat in conspicuous bead of ge silicone. Problem solved!

 

I'm guessing you're already out of your 3/36 warranty? There's a TSB for that.

 

Yup! Did the same on a previous vehicle I had. Went to the dealer for a gasket for a Dodge Ram cargo light. I told him I needed a gasket and they said I could not buy a gasket for it I had to buy the whole lens assembly for a ridiculous price. Did the same thing you did. Autozone and small tube of RTV and was better then new. Never went back again, always after market or other sources. I guess if they gouge enough people they don't care about the business they loose.
