Hello all! I am new to the forum but wanted to inquire with everyone on their thoughts. I just took my 2016 Tacoma to Toyota Escondido for a water leak which drenched my headliner and back seat. They just told me its the 3rd Brake Light and I will need a whole new housing to fix it. Well...They also advised my truck warranty ended at 36K and this issue is not covered under my extended warranty. Its gonna cost just about $500 to replace and repair the issue. Please give me your thoughts!

Pull the light silicone things allow to dry before before exposing to rain.

Now if the light housing is broken a good plastic epoxy plus the silicone should fix the problem

If the light is beyond repair a good used one should fix you up

Did you just have them fix it?

Thats frustrating they'll claim it's not covered but it's an obvious design flaw.

Stormtrooper457 they did fix the issue BUT it was a complete Pain in the Rear! So the Service Manager was aware of a new part/design that came out last year, for the brake light issue, as it appears this has been an ongoing issue with the 2016/2017 Tacomas. Having said that, I toldem if they were aware of this issue, why was I not notified about it? Hence, they subsequently fixed my problem BUT I did have to pay labor rate. That was a complete other issue but in the end, the light/leak was fixed.
