I discovered that my 3rd brake light was leaking significantly when it rains. Since I’m 1,000 miles over my warranty, I will have to pay almost $700. When is Toyota going to offer a recall? How do we get some attention on this? $700!

Like others have said, it’s a factory defect so don’t let them get away with charging you for it.

Do you have a quote from the dealership?

What exactly are they doing to fix the problem?.

And as others have said, call Toyota Corp and open a case about this.

    Thanks, and welcome to TW.

So paranoid about this. I run the truck through high pressure washes all the time and though it’s garage kept it has seen its fair share of rain. No leakage as of yet - but I’m 600 miles from basic warranty expiration. My luck the damn thing will start leaking right after.

You should not have to pay out of pocket for what was clearly a design flaw that hasn’t impacted many trucks and I hope corporate takes care of you on that front

Since you are at 37,000 Miles I would do as everyone above suggested and call Toyota Corp and open a case

Call Corporate. Mine happened at 23K, sucked to walk out after a rain storm
and see the entire rear seats, carpet and roof liner soaked. My issue was the
bolts inside were never tightened up. I put up a stink with Corp over it and ended
up with everything fixed and a 125K Platinum warranty.

Can I ask how you made a stink?? I am on the phone with corporate and created a complaint Case. They ended up transferring me to toyotafinancial in which they are now transferring me to call the extended warranty dept...

Just want to know how to best handle this so I get this ridiculous factory issue covered.

or just seal it with silicone because doesn't seem like they are going to recall it anyway

Hey man....I had one of the 2016's that had about every issue the new Gen experienced and told them just that and had record of it all so I asked for an extended warranty based on that and she said np and gave me one.

Had it not poured like a mofo that night I would have never got the warranty; I was going out the next morning to take the light off and seal it up myself.
