Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I just had mine done. Dealer informed me of the recall months ago. But wouldn’t do it until I removed ARE Mx topper. I contacted my topper dealer. He said it’s very common to do this. I stopped by his place in the morn, they removed topper in about 5 minutes. I then dropped truck at dealer for 35k service and recall. A couple hours I took truck back to topper dealer. After replacing all seals they charged $40. I felt it was worth it since the last time I lifted a topper off myself it cost me a few trips to the chiropractor.

I just wrote my cost off to another Mother Ship screw job. Not worth the effort IMO. Another reason I do all my maintenance on the truck when I can - not going to give them another penny if I can help it. F'rs never would sell me the trim plate since I did the work myself. Shows they really care - as long as they get to do the entire job and get paid. GL. I hope they send you your $

I bought everything myself and did it on my own. Manged to do it even with the topper on. Definitely more work with it on.

Yep, they did me like that too. The purchase receipt from a dealer was inadequate, they wanted my credit card statement.

Can you tell more where you are able to buy the parts? I've been trying to order them for months but no dealer local or on the web I've talked to will sell them to me. I'd rather do it myself to avoid taking off my canopy.

Do a search on Walmart.com for the parts. I got mine through Fred Haus Toyota via Walmart.com.

    00948-CHMSL (trim ring)
    00948-CHMSL_HW (silicone)

A cheap tube of permatex silicone would work too.

Thanks I'm close to just using silicone and calling it. Ridiculous that Toyota won't let you buy it.

That'll probably work fine. The gasket doesn't do much other than cover the black silicone.

Toyota sent me check in the mail for reimbursement today. $164.52 I was nice as pie even when they weren't, played their waiting game and resubmitted documents as requested. There is hope for others.

So after a bunch of hassle and a request for more info I finally got my reimbursement check. Nice. Glad they finally came through with this.

So I just got notified of this today and had it done. Was reading the recall and was wondering if anyone had gotten any interior parts replaced.

I found out today that there is a rust spot developing under the rear seats in my Tacoma, the seat latches are covered in rust, the jack is covered in rust, and the truck smells of mildew horribly. None of these things were brought up to be fixed and I wasn't even told that they were required to clean or replaced things as appropriate.

I would take the seat covers off to check how bad the mildew is but the seats are katskin leather and I don't want to be the one to mess with that...

They are supposed to look for evidence of mildew and moisture and clean and replace things accordingly. How long after you had the recall done did you notice the moisture damage?

Had the service done this morning and noticed it this afternoon. The picture attached is the inside of one of the seats. Both are like this. Strong mildew smell for the past several months. Asked them about getting a roof rack installed since I thought it was the seals under the black strips on the cab.

Only was told about the recall after I got pricing for the roof rack.

Make a case with Toyota corporate and an appointment with a dealer. State your concerns/issues and what you'd like fixed or replaced. The worst they can say is no.

Do you see any evidence of mildew or staining on the headliner? It should be pretty evident if there is a strong smell. Somewhere in this thread is the actual recall procedure from Toyota.

Already called Toyota. Gonna go back to dealership next week for tires and will take it up with service manager at that time.

Can't see any mildew stains since headliner is black. In these photos you can see the slightly darker path where it was getting wet and also in one of the photos you can see water droplets on the headrest. Hopefully gonna get things addressed sometime when I talk to dealership next.

How hard is it to lose the headliner to see how bad it is behind it?

Don't touch it. Take pictures and let Toyota deal with it. Read this thread. It's a long process, but they do take care of everything thoroughly it seems.

Removing the headliner is a royal pain. I think it requires pulling the sun visors, upper hanger brackets above the rear window, grab handles and the trim pieces by the seat belts. Not sure what else. Let the dealer mess with it. I only removed the rear hanger brackets and rear grab handles so I could fit my hand and ratchet/socket in there.

Ok. I was hoping that I could loosen the back half of the headliner to get a scope up there to take some pictures but I will leave it for them instead

I dropped my truck off at the dealer to have this repair completed. Just wondering for those that had the repair, how long did the dealer have your truck? Im thinking i for sure will need the headliner replaced due to staining.
