Nope, just scheduled the service for the 28th of August. I wasn't having issues but wanted to get it done before winter. Glad I'm already on the schedule.

Has anyone with a fiberglass canopy /cap had this done ? do they tell you you have to remove the cap yourself before you bring it in ? Thanks .

I have an appt on Monday and will let you know if someone else does not reply beforehand. I'm not volunteering taking the cap off. Will see what service has to say. There is still space; but it definitely makes it more challenging then just standing in the bed.

Everything should be removed before hand or they can charge you for removal because the recall isn't for removing all of your added accessories it's to fix the seal on your light.

Following on your experience. I’m in the same boat. My shell doesn’t leak and we get a decent amount of rain, so I don’t want to pull it if I don’t have to. When I call and if they say it needs to be removed, then I’ll just run a bead of silicone on the top/sides of the light and hope for the best.

I had the 30K service done yesterday. They won't do the 3rd brakelight TSB if you have a shell on and I wasn't ready to remove mine yet.

My 2016 tacoma light does not seem to be leaking , but It is stored in a covered garage every day . I do not see any signs of leaking , or cracked plastic anywhere . I am wondering if Toyota will give an owner the new gasket fix kit if we ask for it , so as to not take the fiberglass cap off , and install the gasket ourselves .

I will ask if they decline performing the work with the cap on.

Haven't been on here for a long time, getting the typical maintenance done and they call and said the brake light recall needs to be done also. I told them to go ahead as I remember the issue with the early 16s and 17s and just assumed it was the same. Didn't realize they just started this campaign. Wish I had waited to let them get a few under their belt before tacking mine.

Just got it back. Looks fine but had a little scare.

Couldn't figure out what was on the rear window and rubbed it with my finger. It was silicone. Grabbed some invisible glass and a paper towel and completely smeared it over the entire window, I mean completely.

Grabbed some goo gone and it took it off but made the window a greasy mess. Followed it with invisible glass and all looks good again.

He said to avoid it getting wet for 24 hours if possible and definitely no washing until then.

If they did, there's no signs. Everything looks good. They only had it a couple hours too.

Had an oil change scheduled yesterday, got checked in and a few minutes later the service advisor came and let me know about the recall and asked if I had time for them to do it. I said sure, let’s get it done. They had my truck about 3 hours total. Everything looked good on quick inspection.
