Hey Guys, just joined up..Ive got an 07 TRD 4x4 6 cyl 4WD Taco with some mods:
-Thule Rack system in back with holes matching the posts so it can be set low into the bed if necc
-LED Lightbar on rear mounted on front rack rail
-Firestone Airbags under rear with onboard compressor
-16" TRD alum wheels with AT's on them
    -TRD seat skins
    -LED bar under front bumper
-Brake controller and tow setup...Ill post some pics someday when I wash her up

Question regarding these manual transmissions...My 3rd gear syncros grind unless I let rpms fall to half (round 1500 rpm) and let it drop in, any other way it grinds up or downshifts!

Is there an easy fix? different fluids? or am I looking at a re manufactured unit to drop in there which will prob run $2500, with clutch

Would love to hear opinions on this...I searched this forum but didnt see any direct related hits...maybe shoot me a link if you know of prev conversations on this

    Thx!

Welcome ... I have an AT ... I'm sure someone has experienced the same symptoms ... best of luck.

No simple fix for a bad synchro. Once theyre worn out, they're done. You could skip 3rd gear for the time being.

I wouldn't suggest skipping a well used gear, I would say try replacing the gear oil with redline mt90, there's been lots of posts on here about redline making shifting better, then again prev. owner might have trashed 3rd from lack of knowledge, but start with the cheap solutions first before throwing in the towel and spending big bucks.

Its not hard to skip 3rd gear in a 6 speed. Its better than sitting there grinding gears.
