You can buy a brand new 2020 with no miles for $33K-$45 depending on what you want. $31K for a 2017 with 55K miles? No thanks!

You're kidding yourself if you think those mods would make your truck worth more than blue book. 3 year old truck with 71k miles is not going to go for $33k. I could buy a new TRD OR bare bones for that price.

It looks like you have a budget of 31 to 32 , I would try to get a new SR5 or a less than 5,000 mile one year old SR5 maybe Certified .

Good news for all of us that the used market prices for 3rd gens are as insane as 2nd gen prices.

I wonder how much all of these “too high” people are willing to sell their trucks for...answers quickly change when you flip perspective.

    I bought a 2017 with 41K miles on it...TRD OR 4x4...excellent condition....in Nov 2018 for $29000.
That truck you are looking at is overpriced.
I wouldn't pay over $27500 for that truck. Probably less than that too.

I've been looking at 2020's, 2018's and 2019's with less than 30K miles are within 3-5K, may as well buy new.

Mods generally decrease the value of any Tacoma, or are completely neutral to it’s price used. In most cases, a modified truck is worth less even if the mods are nicely done with good or expensive parts.

3rd gen resell is "horrible" because they are still new trucks and the market is flooded with them. As everyone mentioned you can get a brand new one for mid to high 30s so even with low mileage, I would expect anywhere from mid to high 20s selling

So you think your truck today is only worth maybe $25k and would be content at selling it for that?

Regardless of what a fair used value is, it can’t hurt to investigate new prices on 2019s or even 2020s. That way you have options to compare. Your budget and desire to be the first owner (including finance rates being higher on used) will inform your decision on your own personal situation.
