I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Are you ready to cut up your new trucks! Well BAMF has the CMC plates designed and in stock ready to ship!

Here is a little breakdown of the Install.

    Tools needed
    10mm wrench
    Floor Jack
    Jack Stands
4.5" angle grinder with a flap disk and Zip Wheel. Or better yet a plasma cutter!
    paint pen or sharpie
    Small welding clamp
    Hammer
    Razor knife
    Torque wrench
    140 amp or higher welder
All safety gear needed to preform the task

First thing remove the negative terminal from the battery, jack the truck up and remove the tires.

Then lay the BAMF plate on the cab mount and trace what you need to remove. Note I lake to remove less on the first cut then fine tune it with the flat disk. You can see the yellow mark on the left you will need to remove that plastic as well with the razor knife.

This is how it should look once cut and sanded down.
    20151103_101557.jpg

Next you will want to tack only the back of the mount if you removed enough you will have a gap at the outside of it.
    20151103_101738.jpg

Now you take your hammer and tap the plate until it forms the cut. You don't have to get it perfect that's why you have the welding clamp. Clamp the cab mount and plate together until the gap is gone and tack in place.

    20151103_102033.jpg

Once tacked you can start welding it up. Now remember you are not out to win awards on weld appearance. Just stich weld it staggering the welds so you don't over heat the rubber mount.
    20151103_102204.jpg

Now that it's all welded up you can now blend the welds as if they were never there.

    20151103_102909.jpg

Once it's all blended prime and paint the mount inside and out to prevent rust.

I'm going to need this mod on my 2016. There's occasional rubbing during a braking turn, especially if the ground also dips down adding to the shock compression. I'm running 285/70 R17 TA KO2 on SCS F5 wheels with Allpro Lola 2 lift (Fox 2.5 coilover and Allpro UCA). Front diff drop.

On flat ground, with full turn, there is only 1 cm of room between tire tread and the cab mount. With this mod, will I be able to fit 315 tires? What other changes are recommended to fit 315 in terms of fitment?

Will probably have to do some more cutting and hammering to fit the 315s. I'm looking to upgrade to 315s as well but my wheels are as aggressive as the scs.

The only thing i can tell you is to cut until it clears you can cut the end of the cab mount a little more and just tap the plate over in a vice to wrap around if you want to do that.

I'm gonna have to do this to my 2015 Tacoma to fit my 285/70r17's bf ko2's. Luckily I work in a machine shop and can get measurements and make my own chop plates to save time and money. Great post Jlee really helpful.

I wonder what doing a CMC does in terms of structure in the event of an accident.
Isn't the cab mount meant to prevent the wheels from going back and crushing the drivers legs in the event of a collision?
