3rd Gen 2016+ Tacoma Tailgate Lock

Just put mine on and now I don’t worry about loosing my tailgate. If your not sure you need this you do and it takes less than 5min after you read and figure out the directions.

 

Installed and drank a beer inside a 10 minute window. Good quality product that will give me peace of mind when leaving my truck in unfamiliar places.

We have had now two of many locks sold over the past two years be delayed by the USPS for over 7 days. Well one was 14 days But We have never had a missing lock or lost lock.

Hope you good people do not hold me personally accountable for the performance or our United Stated Postal Service....That is why I joined the Air Force, my father rest his sole worked for over thirty years for the USPS and then retired and since passed. It is a really hard job with a lack of management flexibility and demanding customers. He was a hard working man who made me who I am.

Received my black one today. It seemed to take longer to get out of the packaging than to install. Seriously, once the screws were out to loosen the tailgate panel, it was probably two minutes before I was screwing them back in.

I forget sometimes that this lock was the first thing I bought for my truck, and from the forum.
Only after hearing of other members tailgates being stolen do I remember I have one on.
I remember to lock my tailgate 95% of the time. I refuse to buy pop n lock (yet). I even back in anywhere I park to deter shenanigans.
But this lock is my fail safe. Not saying it’s bulletproof, but it gives me peace of mind.

 

As with anything, if they really want the tailgate they will get it, but this is meant to be a solid physical lock and forget application. It is not going to come off without a fight. The locks are the same style as vending machine locks with a slite modification.

I have my 2nd gen lock on my truck and have done the cable modem. As a layer of additional protection I added JB weld steel stick to the head of the fasteners on the hinge itself an the security screw.

Being in a high theft area I have parked my truck in the driveway with the tailgate facing the street and never had a problem yet but when they try I will post the video.

 

Just added more stock, so I do have some to ship out Monday morning.

 

The 14 day one (actually it was almost 3 weeks floating around USPS system) was mine but I understood that when shipping by USPS, it would get here, when it gets here. At least we had the tracking to keep track of it. I finally received it and it works great!

 

Yea, I had nothing to say for why it was bounced around. Happy it got there and you liked it. It is not the norm but had another one sold to a member here recently and since the USPS messed it up he lost faith in me and was kind of rude about it. Thus my change in shipping method to make sure there is insurance for everyone.

 

Shit happens! It’s not your fault that it fell off a conveyor belt in some USPS warehouse. Main thing is it finally got to me. You provided a tracking number and left it to USPS hands. I guess the only way to protect yourself is have them pay for USPS Priority and insurance, then they will complain about the cost of shipping.....Can’t win.
