oddly maybe that's where I got the idea when I saw the red- as flight school taught to look for the tags.

 

I have a black, can I change it for red?
Would match the red accents on the pro quote well...

I’m confused. Mine locks with the remote from the factory

 

What year is your Tacoma 2018?

 

I think I wrote that comment a yr ago maybe. Anyways, my pop-n-lock still works flawless as the day I installed it. What I meant to say was, when I use my remote to lock my truck or if I lock my truck by touching the handle, the pop-n-lock locks my tail gate as well along with the doors. I hope that clarifies it. Unless you got a special model of Taco, tail gate auto lock was a feature we missed.

 

Understood, our lock is a physical backup, once it is installed.

If someone forgets to lock it or does not have the auto locking addition, our lock physically prevents the tailgate from being removed off the hinge. So if your tailgate handle is unlocked the tailgate still cannot be removed.

In your case you are relying on the handle lock. If it gets punched and the tailgate can opened it can be removed quickly.

Either way we offer this lock as an additional layer of security.

 

Just an FYI- about this lock which is awesome - I was able to install it in about 3 minutes. Here is what I noticed:

While I lifted the tailgate to slide it up to get the clip out I was shocked to learn how easy the tailgate comes off and it's so light (no wonder people steal these things) I'll sleep better knowing I'm protected! Thank you TW Forums and Vince at SABELLCO !

Will this work with thrtailgate reinformnet panel installed instead of plastic cover

 

Well that is a great question. Since the plate is flat it would just sit on top of the lock, but it might cover the key portion a little bit. That would no be a problem because you have to loosen the tailgate plate to install.

My best answer is should, but if it does not work you can return it.

I have these. Yes the lock works with them. In fact you won't even have to remove any bolts from the flat panel to get the lock into place.
