Thanks everyone for all the nice comments and the nice reviews on our site.

Been talking to a few people with Gen 3 Taco's, it is really shocking they don't even know they have a key to locks the tailgate. It appears that Toyota is not explaining this to new truck owners.

Just listed them on ebay, things are about to get interesting to keep up, since they charge a 12% markup I had to adjust the price... Our site is the cheapest, so go there first https://sabellco.com/store/

Feeling real bad for a new customer who called me today, just bought his truck and had his tailgate stolen already. He purchased a lock for his new $3500 tailgate.

I want to make one point. If you do not buy our lock, get something that you feel good about for a second point of protection, spread the word about theft and the fact there is a key in the fob to lock the tailgate.

I noticed the center keyed portion doesn't come out. Does the plastic tailgate cover have to be off to fully remove the lock or is mine stuck?

The center locking portion comes out or the whole tailgate? My center lock won't come out when it's turn 180 degrees downward in the unlock position.

If you want to take the lock completely out you have to resess the pin all the way in with your finger or small screw driver. The looks should stay in the housing. PM me your phone number and I will call you

The instructions were wrong, it is a T30 screw on the skin of the tailgate.:boink:

Updated the instructions, thanks for the feedback

It appears just about everything back there is a T-30... tailgate, cubbies, bedrails, etc.

EDIT: I just re-read your instructions and wanted to let you know that I just removed the corner screw and loosened the other two screws closest to it (Yellow in instructions). It provided enough room to lift the composite corner away and insert the lock. Also, when I initially installed it, I kept wondering, what is this tab he's referring to removing and what was it there for in the first place? It is just a small friction tab/clip to retain the plastic piece to the metal assembly. I used needle nose pliers to just pull it out.

Realized I just messed up on the instructions for the T30 vs T40 what I posted, but the reason to take all the screws out is to allow extra clearance to put it in without scratching it and it allows you to center the skin back up to the holes for the best alignment. Thanks again for the feedback and I must have really confused many people with the T40 thing. o_O
