    Hey everyone,

    So the Ontario BS group guys and myself had been tinkering around with a template that's main purpose is to replace the factory front wheel well splash guard 2 piece bikini set on both the 2nd and 3rd generation Tacomas.

    The purpose of this is to remove the old 2 piece, sorry Toyota but, sorry excuse for a "splash" guard within the front wheel wells both both trucks since water, sand, mud, mall curbs, and stones find themselves being flung around and have a chance to get into the engine bay, and that's pas bon.

    This is the design we have come up with and wish to give it out for free to everyone:

    IMG_20190728_173252.jpg
    Top is the current Template and bottom is the Factory 3rd gen Tacoma splash guards

    This Thread is meant to condense everything as this idea had stretched across multiple posts on the Ontario BS thread as well as time, space, and the 4th dimension of the Hypercube

    Shout out to @Clwrz for the feature and install video below:

    :fistbump:

    MATERIALS;
    What you are mainly looking for is a 2-3mm neoprene/ rubber material, essentially something that is flexible, does not absorb water, and can take abuse.
    some sources for this material include rubber BBQ mats, rubber shop mats that are used as toolbox shelf liners, or similar. You can fit 2 of the templates on a 56"x24" pad.

    If you cannot find the specific product, you should be able to use rubber shop mats that allow for standing or rolling tool boxes to rest between it and the floor. Essentially you're looking for material that is flexible enough and tough enough to withstand being soaking wet and pelted by rocks.

    Edit: 2019/10/24:
    THESE MATS ARE NOW DISCONTINUED AT HOME DEPOT.
    something like this; https://www.homedepot.ca/product/mu...m-black-bbq-mat-of-recycled-rubber/1001104700

    Edit: 2020/05/09:
    HomeDepot; Item # 1001523620 36" wide R3R Runner @ $4.40 a linear foot.
    Is another item used by @HeyWannaTaco , cheers bud!

    HomeDepot 24x54 Rubber mat 3mm 9sf - Product code; B 1000-808977
    (these might be discontinued, but there are larger rolls you might be able to find)

    Edit: 2020/11/02:

    CLIPS;
    Pick your fancy but below we have a small list you can choose from;

    Walmart:
    Part Source:
    OEM Factory clips (doesn't work well):
    Amazon;

    THE TEMPLATE;
    (SEE ATTACHED FILES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST);

    This template is a compilation of everyone at the Ontario BS group (link below) and is meant to be free for everyone. No costs other than material costs of printing it out yourself.

    I don't want money, none of the guys that's part of this want money for it.
    But if they are drunk and demand compensation or something, just pass em a beer. We Canadians are simple people.
    :cheers:
    Other than that so Enjoy!

    IMG_20190713_122456.jpg
    (top down: Final cut out, Modified Hybrid template in the middle, Original template)

    @chyknees was kind of enough to remake the template in CAD format! cheers bud!

    TRUCKS WITH BODY LIFTS & ALTERNATE UCAs;

    you can modify the template in any way you'd like. If you print out the template onto paper you can check and see where you're missing material, it's easy enough to add tape or something to extend the template to where it is needed.
    The most important part is the location of the mounting holes. if those line up - you can shape the template in any way you'd like/ fits your needs

    FYI AND FAIR WARNINGS;
    The original template that i had received from one of the other members only had some holes for the bottom half for what i assume is the the 2nd gen layout, so you'll need some finesse of your own to get a 100% positioning to find the other holes up top. With this same template i developed and added in positioning for the 3rd gen Tacoma as the clip holes do not match the 2nd gen at all. I just compiled the entire thing so

    I did mess up my rendition of the template but had noted it in the template that i had scanned, but on the 3rd gen there is an electrical cable (right of the first photo) that needs a notch cut into it to allow for it. I did the driver side first and ended up cutting the notch on both sides:bananadead:
    Driver side (3rd gen);

    Passenger side (3rd gen);

    DIRECTIONS OF USE;

    The .PDF is a full 1:1 scale file so you can print this out in one go or do some arts and crafts with the kids.
    DO NOT NEED TO SCALE UP OR DOWN THE IMAGE
    You can plot it out AS IS if you have a full size plotter that can pop this out in 1 shot.
    OR
    you can print this out at home or your local library and piece it together.
    Adobe acrobat has an option inside it that will allow you to print on multiple sheets, it's called "Poster"
    https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/print-posters-banners-acrobat-reader.html

    ("poster" print on left, original on right)

    thanks for the tip!

    shout out to the Ontario BS group for working together to make this template for everyone to use.
    If you're in Canada and happen to be in or near Ontario, come join us!:fistbump:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ontario-bs-and-event-thread.249665/

    also disclaimers i guess;
    - It is again something we all pitched in on this template to begin with and this is why we all decided to toss this is for free for everyone.
    - In-case someone calls out that it's "their" design or we had copied them. Understand that the template's design is based off of Toyota's Original designs of both the 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen Tacoma truck's wheel well, clip positioning, and complete design outline since all it is we have done is just maximizing the space we have to work with and utilized points that was given to us.
    - Don't take this template and sell it, please - we aren't children here. we will find out, and you will be frowned upon.
    - Everyone is free to edit, hack, slash, and modify everything to get it to work. If you post it up to share, all we ask is to just put credit where it is due!

    Cheers!

    PS: mods if this isn't the discussion board for it, please could you direct me to one that fits this best? I'm not sure if to go to "Armour", "Wheels and Tires", "off-roading & Trails", or "detailing"? The last thing i saw in regards of a template post was directly over at the 3rd gen threads..

    Think I am going to update the template I made before passing it to @Manfred. I want more coverage in the front like this new one has.
