So after much research into replacement head units with Apple CarPlay, I decided I didn't like the compromises and look of 3rd party bezels. I begrudgingly decided to stay with Entune 2.0 unit until we find out if the Entune 3.0 unit is a drop-in replacement.

In the meantime, I went with a simple and inexpensive replacement of the crappy stock paper speakers. I started with the tweeter replacement, and while it made a good difference, it was clear the fronts needed to be replaced as well. Then I thought I could get by without replacing the rears... I'm very glad I did as it really rounds out the new fantastically rich sound in the whole cabin instead of just the front half. I spent just over $260 for the six replacement speakers and couldn't be happier about the investment. I wouldn't want to spend any more given the output power of the stock head unit

What I really liked about these particular speakers is they are a perfect fit for the factory mounts. No adapters required. Oddly, both Amazon and Crutchfield say that these are not compatible with my 2018 double cab. Wrong! They fit perfectly.

The tweeters and 6.5" rears are direct drop-in replacements to the factory harnesses. The front 6x9s have an oddly placed connector on the speaker body and the stock harnesses won't reach, but come with an extended harness that clips into the stock connectors and is easily run through a hole in the door. I'd recommend some tape around the sharp edges of the hole to protect the wiring where it passes through.

    Here's the shopping list:

Dash Tweeters ($99 at time of writing):
    Genuine Subaru H631SFJ101 Tweeter Kit

    Front 6x9" ($79.90 when I purchased):
Powerbass OE692-TY 6"x9" Coaxial OEM Toyota Replacement Speaker

Rear 6.5" ($79.95 at time of writing):
PowerBass OE652-TY 6.5" 120W 2-Way OE Series Coaxial Speaker System

I did have some trouble with the panel removal as none of the "popular" videos I found had any information about how to disconnect the harnesses for the power windows and locks. Turns out that control bezel pops right up and you have direct access to the harnesses before you take the door panels off. If someone needs some help with figuring out the panel removal, let me know and I can take some pictures and offer detailed instruction. I've gotten pretty good at it :)
