Guys. If you’ve got to ask all these (stupid) questions, then clearly this product is not for you. Just move on. IMHO if you need solid mounts that don’t relocate the engine, then OP’s product/price is very hard to beat. You’ll save like $20 from DIY and probably can’t weld as nicely.

That's some next level asinine logic. If you don't understand something, you should absolutely stop and ask questions. What the hell do you think TW is about? We're all here to learn about our trucks... I suppose there are those who are only here to troll or score Instagram cred, but generally most are here to learn.

That's some seriously elitist type thinking you guys have going on.

If OP truly believes in his product, then he should have no problem answering "stupid" questions and educating those of us who are uninformed or ill-informed. And he should be ready to defend his product against the nay sayers.

You can’t just go make claims of stock motor mounts failing and causing damage to all the stuff he listed without showing proof.

And he is doing Just that. With remarkable patience! And I shouldn’t have said stupid questions. As my favorite professor used to say, there are no stupid questions.

But there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots!

Ha! This is the internet my dude. Anyway, I didn’t mean to offend you personally and I hope I didn’t. Another mea culpa: I thought this was a for sale thread. Guess it’s not. So ask away!

Definitely not "offended" and I don't take too much of what I read on TW personally. However, I'd like to try and maintain an atmosphere that allows newbs or uninformed individuals, the comfort to ask questions to better understand their truck.

One of the biggest complaints I hear from new members entering TW is that TW is full of elitist assholes.

Part of being a business owner is taking heat and answering questions, regardless if you think or feel the answer should be obvious. Ive been on this forum for a little over 6 years, Ive seen it all and if people are going to give you their hard earned money you have an obligation to help them understand what they are paying for.

This product isn't for everyone, its actually for a very few. Light bar manufacturers are going to sell a hell of a lot more product than I will haha. My product isnt easily visible, its not glamorous looking, and its a product that 99.9% of people would not normally ever think about upgrading until they have a personal experience with a broken or failing motor mount, or the subsequent damage that occurs. When my factory motor mounts broke on my tacoma back in 2003, I ended up having a $3,200 repair bill from toyota and well that was it for me. I designed and built the first set and have never had those issues again.

There are pictures, videos, and write ups on motor mount damage and horror stories on the @solid_offroad Instagram page. I actually tired to upload some videos earlier here in this thread but it keeps telling me its and unsupported file:confused:

F it, I’ll bite and try some. Cranking the power up to 500hp I’m gonna need all the stiffening I can get. Is there any additional/noticeable vibrations transduced through the steering/frame with more solid mounts?

I would love to see some evidence on some third gens. I have worked for a company in the past that had a flawed motor mount design on a front wheel drive car that if it failed and wasn’t replaced the engine could possibly fall out of the car. I’m not saying this truck couldn’t benefit from upgraded mounts, I’m just saying I haven’t heard of any damage on third gen Tacoma’s from failed motor mounts

Of all the stuff these fab companies put out I think a no drill battery tray brace would be the million dollar idea for 2nd and 3rd gens. These motor mounts I couldn't see buying them. I only go to the mall to chat up Karens that are power walking. The speed bumps are insane.

Ive found that the extra harmonics, if they are noticed at all, only noticeable at idle and its very minimal. Ive never had a customer message me and complain about it. Just lots of "word of mouth" recommendations between customers thats its a non-issue. An aftermarket exhaust system puts more vibrations and harmonics into the drivers senses IMO. Ive never felt anything extra in the steering wheel myself and never heard of that from a customer.

500hp? Sounds like some forced induction tire shreddin badassness:cheers:

That sounds like a horrible defect!

The 2nd gen and 3rd gen tacoma are very similar is engine mount design. They both use a 4 bolt bracket on the pass side and a cast iron 3 bolt bracket on the driver side. They both use an almost identical geometric-wise large rubber steel encased "puck" with a single stud sticking out that connects the two halves. The way and the angle that the mount bolts to the frame and the way the leverage is applied is extremely similar as well. At first glance you would think they use the same motor mount. but they are just slightly off in geometry and bolt hole spacing.

The 2nd gen motor mount failure rate with offroading is pretty high, and I was getting lots of DM's to make a 3rd gen kit similar to the 2nd gen kit from 3rd gen owners that didn't want to have a repeat of the experience they had with their other tacomas or saw happen to their friends. But if you are asking me for a video of a damaged 3rd gen truck or pictures, I currently do not have access to that. Ive seen them, but I was not able to save or download the media. But trust me I spend alot of time and money doing R&D, mock up and test fitment, making weld fixtures, having the parts CNC programmed, laser cut and finally building the production parts. If the demand was low, I wouldn't invest the money and man power. Again, this product is for a small minority of people that run their trucks hard off road, which is not everyone's cup of tea.
