3rd Gen Aftermarket LED Headlamps - Recommendations, Rants, Experience, Etc.

The low beam lights are much better focused than my old Corolla lights were but the light above the line is the light that is blinding for other drivers.



As for the high beam. You should have 2 fairly intense hot spots which are there but they scatter to the sides too much. This light should be directed more down road.

For me, I can't do a vehicle inspection at work and fail it and then do the same thing I failed the vehicle for on my own. So for me a DOT approved lamp assembly was the only choice, so I spent the money on the factory LED assemblies and haven't looked back.

As for how you feel about the factory halogens, there is a reason the Tacoma didn't receive an Insurance Safety top pick until after they added LED headlamps. The halogens are horrible.

 

All of the lights are adjustable, I haven't played with them yet. I hope to get a little better focus and clarity when I do.

 

theres definitely some glare above the cutoff but ive seen worse. when people say they bought Amazon lights its almost always "price lowest first" shoppers and most cheap amazon leds have horrendous beam patterns regardless if their im a projector or not. im sure you yourself have been blinded by some of these.

theres an actual expert on this stuff on the forum thats tested many different setups in stock housings and he determined a high performance halogen h9 swap gives best results. theres a thread on it somewhere if you wana look.

Coming up saying it won’t fit. That they are for 20-23. Should be fine right? Do I need any adapters or anything going to these? I was originally going to go alpha Rex novas but these seem to be hands down the better option (minus price)

 

I hope another will comment about fit. It could be your vehicle did not have LED DRLs to begin with. @daveeasa or @Puppypunter ... you are the experts.

 

It just says it won't fit because LEDs weren't available in 2017 but they will physically bolt up. You will need an adapter harness to get them to work though.

I can tell you that the factory LED assemblies bolted right on to my 2017 TRD Sport and the harness adapter from @daveeasa made the wiring plug and play.

 

Can’t seem to find the OEM LEDs lower than $750 a piece now. I messed up and didn’t purchase them like others did at $1,100.
