The 1100 was total for both?! Damn. I’d have bought that instantly. 1500 is a little much. Then the 100 for the adapter too.

It’s World Toyota in Atlanta, GA. Local to me for pick-up. I bit the bullet and bought here, so there was tax. I didn’t want to risk shipping.

I assume both headlights are on, yet there's one hot spot on the driver's side (for the low beams). It's also way too low hence excessive foreground lighting.

It answers many questions, though. Much detailed testing done, and he updates when necessary to re-test.

Those types of threads become legendary. I've done a few "step by step" install threads back in the Subaru days. Its nice when people share lessons learned, etc.

crashnburn tries to dispel the myth that "looks goos to me" is the same as "all is good". Some look brighter to you but do not give longer distance and may be blinding to other drivers. One of the few threads that actually suggest less-expensive solutions that help enough.

I am sorry for what happened to you. I have lost my wife and a daughter. I assume your loss happened relatively recently? It hurts like hell, but it gets more bearable, as the time goes by. Not better. More bearable.
Boomer was being helpfull, he said you could not use drop in LED bulbs, none of them are DOT approved. You may not like the answer, but it is what it is.

    Thanks for the kind words.

I am using drop in LED bulbs and they are working great. I have asked numerous people to observe if they are blinding. Every person said no.

Boomer was never helpful, he was arrogant. He insisted he was smarter and more knowledgable than others, he is an asshole. It is idiotic for him to think he can make blanket satements. It is arrogant to think he knows everything about a given subject. It's obvious he is a loser of a person.

Additionally, I asked a friend of mine who owns an auto inspection business in Pennsylvania. He said he has never checked headlights for DOT approval in his entire career.

He may not have checked the bulbs, but using LED bulbs in the housing not designed for LEDs is not allowed by DOT regs. It is just not. That's why drop in LED bulbs say "for offroad use only".
I have factory LED headlights on my Sport. They are the best headlights I have ever used. They are worth every penny.
I have used drop in LED bulbs in my Chrysler before I knew any better. I thought they were brighter. They were not. They gave out a lot of foreground light, with no light down the road.
I switched to H11 bulbs in place of H9, and the difference was night a day.
In your case I would run Philips H11 or factory LED lights.

The LED bulbs I bought did not have any stipulation of off Road use only. I looked at five or six different brands of LED headlights on Amazon and not a single one of them says off-road use only.

I may ultimately try what you are suggesting but his style of handling something that he knew nothing about proves he is a little more than a keyboard Warrior.

I recently turned off my Fog Lights...which I had installed Diode replacement bulbs on post#75 of this thread.

The realization of the reflection in the fog casing was noticeable on one dark night.

I was late leaving work, parking lot was empty and decided to see if I could see the light pattern of the fogs (OEM LED headlights were on too).

Put the truck in park and proceeded to stand about 25-35 feet from my truck to see if it was blinding...I did not see a significant blinding angle.

So, I go back to my truck and turn off the fogs and notice the reflection in the tree leaves turned off when the fogs were turned off.

This lead me to believe the fog pattern was affected because I'm using the OEM H16 casing with the diode light.

I use to run my fogs when the headlights turned on...I have since shut them off for regular night driving.

If the diode affected the fog light in this way, I'm thinking the headlights would also be affected.
