I'm so glad you came back to continue this. I love watching the what I think vs what science actually states. It's fun I needed the laugh tonight.

Factory LED fogs have a lense that shapes the light pattern. I will try to take a pic today. Yours were halogen fogs with drop in LED bulbs?

I believe the H16s are Halogen.

They were a lot dimmer than my LED headlights...and I could see the difference when I stood 25-35 feet away in the dark.

    Sorry, I was unclear.
My truck came with factory LED headlights and fogs. The fog housing itself (the housing itself) has a lens/prism built in to shape the pattern of the LED source.

    It's cool.

I've learned something about a simple swap-out...that it isn't that simple with regards to LED/Diode replacements in non-conforming housing units.

I was surprised by the illumination difference reflecting on the tree branches/leaves when I turned off/on the fogs.

Live and learn...I've had plenty of moments here on TW to appreciate the knowledge/experience from others.

I put Vleds in both high & low beam sockets in my factory housings. Been very happy with them, good cut off, definitely illuminates down the road and too the sides better. I put the higher output ones in BTW

Just a quick google shows that LED bulbs are not allowed in halogen assemblies in Canada or the USA. Even if there is no 'Offroad Use Only' designation. This is DOT which overrides state. If your mechanic isn't looking then he is wearing really dark glasses while inspecting and just taking your money.

I have read the codes for Canada. I have them at work. As an inspector I need to be aware of this. And as a general rule most regulations in Canada are the same in the States. In some areas we do differ. Like DRL and TPMS. Or even those automatic seat belt things american cars had but we didn't.

    1000006251.jpg

It really should be illegal to sell these bulbs in the first place!

No mountains here, or mole hills. Just entering the facts into the thread. Ultimately it's your truck and your decision. Until it isn't. But then I guess you found the blind inspector, so you are all set.:hattip:

For as wound up as you are about this, I'm wondering what you believe the major transgression is?

Your blatant disregard for fact is the issue everyone has here.
Fact law states these bulbs are not legal for street use.
Fact it has been proven they do not work properly and have inferior performance.

But ya know looks good to you

I guess I forgot that part. But I have lost family members to their own poor decisions so I learned life goes on and you must not let the events of life make you act badly towards the world. When your actions injure others, you must take responsibility.

You cannot believe everything you read on the interned. - Abraham Lincoln.

However, some of my reasoning skills were shot for 6 months after my wife and daughter passed away. I have ability to compartmentalize, so I was able to make some decisions objectively, others I pushed back for 6 months.

Took a full year to come out of mental fog.

Oh there will be some mods all right
I deleted a bunch of posts because it was a whole bunch of bickering and name-calling and attitude. If we can't keep it mature and respectful in here we will have to lock the thread.
