So i hopefully switched my mind for the last time. I mentally feel settled with the kit i chose, just now figuring out the small options. Decided to go with the OME kit all around, but instead of Dakars i decided on the ixon RXT (towing atvs, large zero turn, camping gear, dogs, added bumpers in the future, etc). Marie at headstrong was so informative and helpful with the decision. Decided on the OME for quality and consistency of reviews. This is what I'm going with, tell me what you think.

    OME coils (886)

OME nitrocharger sport struts (90021 soft)

OME trim packer (for drivers side lean)

OME nitrocharger sport rear shocks – 60091

    Icon RXT leaf packs

    Strut and Coil assembly

SPC Light Racing ball joint upper control arms

Total is right around 1800$. Thoughts? I know an upgrade would be Fox or King. As far as your experience with the above mentioned kit. TIA!

I did the OME HD with the Dakars in the rear. My tires are Cooper 255/85 R16.

I'm very happy with the setup, the stiff suspension has allowed me to the wood de woops pretty fast. Now I'm thinking about taking off the sway bar since I have a firmer ride.

Looks great man! Thanks for the reply. I am not hating on Dakars at all, I just personally want to run the icon rxt. I know you said HD setup, but what specifics did you go with as far as coils go? Did you go with stiff or soft struts?

9000 struts and 886x coils if I remember correctly. I wanted a firm setup because I plan on doing bumpers and armor in the future.

This is the exact same setup I am piecing together. Just ordered the rear setup with the Headstrong 3 leaf progressive AAL and Nitrochargers. Most likely going to go with 887 coils though. Would love to hear some quality reviews on a full OME setup as well.

Dont have it yet, but did just order the OME 2" Heavy kit. Comes in on Tuesday, hope to have it on by Wednesday. I currently run 255/85R16 Toyo Open Country MTs. Based on all the research I did, pretty confident with this move.

Yeah I agree. I was back and forth with the 6112/5160's, then the icon stage 3 (turned off due to excessive reviews about leaking shocks and piss poor customer service), and the 5100 w/ OME kit. Although Bilsteins do sell more shocks, OME had such consistent reviews and I was hard pressed to find anything negative about them. Also, with @Headstrong Off-Roads fantastic customer service from Marie and their prices being great, it all sold me. Only thing different was I'm using the rxt VS the Dakars.

I big thing for me with the OME kit over Bilsteins was not having to hobble together different brand stuff, hoping everything meshed and fit. I get that there are a lot of people doing it, but there is value in knowing for a fact that I am buying a quality product that comes complete and 100% compatible with itself. Also, its cool and all that the Bilstein 5100s are adjustable for its price range, but, I would set it at about 2" anyway, so no real gain for me going to the Bilstein. I gave up on looking at Icon/Fox/King/OME BP-51 mostly due to price. Though, given everything I have read, when I make the jump to the next level, Ill likely still run the BP-51's for the same reason I picked the 2"OME kit.

Plus I just ordered the ARB front bumper and ARB Recovery Point. May as well go all in on ARB right?

    https://www.arbusa.com/toyota-tacoma-2016-on/bumpers-protection-equipment/summit-bumper/

That's the link to the ARB site and the bumper I ordered. I almost went with one from c4 fab. But, I couldnt argue against ARB's reputation, the air bag compliant nature of the bumper (just had a little girl so safety became a huge thing to me), and just that I liked it. Its heavy as hell though.

I picked up the ARB recovery point too since there aren't shackle points on the bumper. (Maintains air bag characteristics so you probably dont want to be yanking from the pumper anyway, and ARB claims our frame horns aren't really strong enough for that type of force). It is biggger than stock, and bigger than most fab shop ones, but it is the only one I have seen that is actually load rated. I'm not big on the whole, "I think its beefy enough? It's made with thick steel and looks good." I like to see numbers and testing.

Im about to do 255/85/r16 on a 2" lift. Do you think I will have any trimming to do or should I be safe?

The only rubbing issue that would occur is if you are running non-stock wheels. The beauty of being able to run the 255/85R16 stock with no rubbing comes from the pairing of the "skinniness" of the tire, combined with the offset/backspacing/size of the stock wheel. That's not to say that all aftermarket wheels will make you rub; just that people that have rubbing issues with the 255/85R16 are also running aftermarket wheels with different size characteristics. The lift should not change this. I think some people ran into UCA issues when lifting and this tire size, once again, are caused by aftermarket wheels.

I will know for a first hand fact about the 2" lift and this tire size on Saturday.

Awesome! I am keeping the stock wheels (like the way they look) and thinking of 255/85/r16 Cooper S/T Maxx. Would love to see some pictures when you are done

I will definitely be adding photos after Saturday, going to be adding an ARB front bumper, WARN winch, ARB recovery point and the OME 2" Heavy kit. Should be a fun project.

I very nearly went with the Cooper ST MAXX tires. Ended up with the Toyo MTs in the same size. A bit more money per tire, but I felt money aside the Toyo's were the better tire. Slightly taller (33.5" vs 32.8"), similar width (10.2"), more aggressive tread; but, heavier (#61 vs #59), noisier (tread pattern), and a little worse on the road (MT vs a hybrid AT/MT). I love them. I have heard awesome reviews on the ST Maxx though. After installing on Saturday, ill be hitting a couple off road places in Oklahoma with a buddy who is running the ST Maxx, and ill see how well they do first hand.

From what I've read, 255s require ZERO trimming. Should be able to run them on stock suspension. What lift are you going with?

Should look and perform good. What tires are you running (not size, brand and model)?
