3rd gen audio build - Joying tacoma headunit

Can you give us a picture of your wiring?

 

I'll try. Give me a couple minutes. I also have the Car Solutions front/anytime camera mod. I'm guessing the bigger issue is when I connect the canbus. Unless I'm supposed to plug that into something instead of itself?

 

I wired up my unit to a battery in the basement, here is my canbus setting

 

So you have different options? Weird

Here's the wiring. I also had 2 antenna? wires not plugged in. Thinking that is normal. and then 1 OEM plug. But I don't see anywhere on the harness to plug it into.

I've installed car stereos before so this isn't foreign to me. Just new quirky issues.

 

hmmm, your back looks completely different than mine.... You got extra wires, extra RCAs and extra sma plugs.

 

On a slightly related note, Joying updated their firmware at the end of 2019, I just went through the update on mine. Painless and easy, going to run through them all to see whats changed while I go about my cooling upgrades.

 

Where do I get the firmware? I tried searching for it and came up with nothing.

And the model of mine is JY-TO160N4GS-1, which I thought is what you got. I wonder if they sent the wrong harness?.

 

That's similar to mine. I had one factory plug that wasn't used, I figure it's the one going to the center screen for radio data, etc.

 

Mine is the JY-TO160N4GS, so I am guessing you just have the updated version of what I have.

Do not just download and install them thinking they are newer than what you have. Double check yours to make sure its not what you have already.

 

So I have the G23 version. Says I don't need to update the MCU but I should on the OS.

 

And its weird that this model isn't listed on that page either.

 

Mine wasnt listed either, but I just matched the screen size and the cpu.

 

Gotcha. Just unzip the files on a thumb drive and pop it in? Is it automatic?

 

Yep thats all I did, the system automatically detected update files and then restarted and installed them.

 

Ok, firmware update was successful but the beeping when the Canbus is connected is worse now. Same issue as before. Beeps erratically and switches to the phone app. If I disconnect the Canbus wires then it goes back to working. Still no camera and no steering wheel controls.

 

And the OEM one is back in the dash. I doubt I'll get anyone from Joying until Monday. I'm not wasting anymore time on something that was supposed to be plug and play.

 

Did you get it working? I really want to pull the trigger and get one but idk I'm torn having a 2020.

 

2020 does not work with this headunit. You have different radio plugs so it will not work.

 

I spoke with someone who said that it did with a different harness they have ? There's nothing special about the 2020 stock entune. Would love something better. Just can't find anything I'm happy with.

 

I did not get mine working. I put the original one back in. There was someone in this thread that got it working on a 2020. I think they have a different harness though.
