You do, they need to be trimmed about a inch or so so they match the OEM ones. You need to get a little creative to get 2 screws on each side.

You can use the OEM mounts, but when you push on the headunit it can get pushed in.

post 101 shows cutting the mounts.

Cool thanks. Is it normal that every time I start up my truck the zlink takes forever for my phone to connect to the Apple wireless car play?

Yes, it can be a little slow sometimes. I never actually use carplay or aa, I use google play music and download everything right to the headunit when I am at home.

If you plug in your phone, is carplay instant?

I haven’t tried plugging my phone in yet to see how CarPlay responds. I’ve just been connecting it via Bluetooth.

Gotcha! What’s the best way to upload pictures onto it for the wallpaper or live wallpaper options? And I saw an earlier post in this thread stating it would have to undergo a firmware update also?

Depending on what version (when you got yours) there may be a firmware update. Mine is a 1st gen, most of the ones I have been seeing people get are 2nd gen. 2nd doesnt need the update usually.

But, check out https://www.joyingauto.com/blog/category/updated-files-released/ to get instructions and see if your on the current version.

As for putting things on, I will use a USB drive, then transfer it over. Or just put things in my google drive and then download them from there.

Thank you!! What are these “different” launchers people are talking about for the main menu and how do I go about finding different ones for it?

Android apps in the Google Play store to provide different front ends to get to the apps on the headunit. I don't think any of them are absolutely fantastic, but the one I've settled on when I'm not using CarPlay is Agama Car Launcher.

There should be a few stock ones in the settings menu down at the bottom. But many (including me) have downloaded other ones from the play store.

As I transition away from the stock head unit, the only thing I'll miss about it is the offline maps. Is there an app you all recommend for use deep in the woods? If I download Google offline maps, would that suffice? Joying has a video about using Sygic but it appears that is a paid service.

I have downloaded google offline maps, but your limited in areas you can download. You can only download sections it seems, so if you wanted to do a cross country trip, you would have to plan your whole route and download each section.

Good to know. I'm thinking of doing just the local forest area, so that should work out perfect. Will be good to have that stored on the head unit's memory. Thanks!

Install took me 45 mins. I was nervous about the mess of wires, but literally all you have to do is connect ones that match. Others who have posted are right, there are 2 square white connectors that aren’t used. There also are 2 circular connectors that aren’t used.

I used the Joying GPS, didn’t install 4G antennas, and didn’t install mic (plan to use integrated one).

Now to figure out all the settings...

Also I used stock bracket. You can see the lip toward the bottom of the unit, but it's pretty minor and not worth the hassle to me.

Is there an overlapping circle in the top left corner where the time shows?

correct, and I later disabled it. Been enjoying the unit so far, still trying to figure out some small annoyances with it but otherwise it's been great!

I just got this head unit installed this evening and it is great, but I am having a problem getting signed into google. Every time I try to sign in it keeps saying incorrect password. I know my password is correct, so I don’t know what’s going on. Any ideas or suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks
