It was easier just to buy regular sunglasses.

I want to know why the fuck YouTube keeps launching.

www.nushield.com says they can produce a reverse polarizing screen protector to straighten us out.
They asked me for very specific measurements, but I have not gotten back to them. I have no idea what it will cost, but if it's less than $75 I'll buy it.

Set the unit to open Navigation (or whatever app you choose) 5 seconds after power up.
Open the recent app window and clear all.
The unit likes to open whatever was last open. If that's YouTube, it will open that every time.
Even if it does open YouTube, the nav app (set to Google maps in my case) opens after 5 seconds.
This solved the never ending YouTube loop for me.

Hey guys. I’ve read through this thread and the Dasaita thread and am trying to decide between the two. I like the volume knob on the Joying but the BT 5.0 on the new Dasaita appeals to me. On the stock head unit I’ll typically run wires just for sound quality alone (I already have replaced speakers and added amp and sub) It also has android 10.0. I’m completely ignorant to android and it’s versions so I don’t even know if it should be a concern.

What are the differences between Android 8.1 and 10 that will be noticed?

I will likely be almost 100% apple CarPlay. I hate radio, don’t subscribe to XM and use Apple Music with the family. Any input would be appreciated!

    thanks

There is not too much of a difference between 8.1 and 10 when it comes to the function of a car stereo. There are plenty of differences when it comes to using android for a phone or tablet though. But generally in your car you just have 1 app running for along time without switching too much.

If your running 100% carplay, I would just go with the one that looks the best for you and is the fasted spec wise.

It's been set to that since the beginning, and it does open Zlink (sometimes, but that's the app). However there's no reason to keep opening YouTube in the background. This isn't default Android behavior.

I need to see about upgrading the firmware today. I'm heading out on a trip tomorrow, so I'm also tempted to wait until I get back.

Nevermind, there is no firmware update.

Make sure you remember all your settings, firmware upgrades resets most things.

Sort of on topic if the topic is the joying Headunit. In case anyone wanted to know the Aux input on the back does work. I hooked it up to my trailer camera so that I could see who is behind me. I then split screen to my OBD fusion app to watch my transmission temps. Google maps works at the same time but listening to music doesn't because the aux input is the source of sound. Before this I had a leftover phone for transmission temps and a separate screen suction cupped to the dash for my trailer camera. I bought this for Apple carplay which I don't even use TBH. If only I could get my Trailer brake controller to show up on the screen. If anyone knows which PID it is I am all ears.

I pulled the trigger on this unit last Friday and it looks like it might arrive tomorrow!
I thought I would have more time to sort out my setup... not a bad problem to have.

looking for some advice: How is the RCA signal out of these units? Since I have the stock head unit I currently have an Audiocontrol LCi7 LOC before my Alpine PDF X4. Wondering if I should drop the LOC , get RCAs and run straight to the AMP now.

Also, someone posted about an add-on filter to rotate the polarization in one of the other threads but now I can't find it.

Easy way would be to pay someone to do it.

But if you want to do it your self, then you first need to decide on the subwoofer. It should have both line in inputs and rca inputs. You will use the line in inputs now, then if you expand your system you will probably end up using the rca inputs.

After you found a subwoofer that will fit you need to run your power cable from the battery to under the drivers seat.

You will need to tap into the front speakers to get your signal (do not use the rear speakers, they have very little output and it will sound like shit) after you have gotten the signal from the front speakers (you can tap into them at the plug by the doors behind the kick panels, or you can get the signal right from the back of the radio) you plug those wires into the subwoofer.

    then you just tune it.

Its not a ton of work to just install a premade powered subwoofer, 90% of the work is just running wires under the carpet.

    Thanks for the info!

I see, I am not too afraid of doing the work myself since I have plenty of experience working on electronics.

    Would this sub work?

    https://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fos...mall+subwoofer+car&qid=1603251670&sr=8-9&th=1

    download_ef8acbcd85222cb950550d4d1f0d7e4cc84b3e20.jpg

I can see these 2 ports, would one be power from the batt and another one from the rear port of the HU?

Not too worried expanding the system, it works pretty good as is imo but just want more base.

Also considered door speakers with more base to avoid the sub install but haven't seen anything that's good so far..

So that is not a powered subwoofer, so you would have to buy a amp. The black and red terminals are for the outputs of the amp to plug into, hooking up the battery and then the headunit to that will fry the sub and probably many other things in your truck.

That also wouldnt fit under the seat, I think it should fit behind the rear seats though, but you may have to remove the plastic cubby back there.

If your looking for something to go under the driver seat, search "underseat subwoofer" on Amazon. That will give you a bunch of options. But dont pick the cheapest one, you'll regret it. Your looking at around $200-$300 for a halfway decent subwoofer (remember, it comes with a amp built in, so thats where a good chunk of you money goes to)

Some that you can look at are:
    Kicker hideaway
    JBL basspro sl
    Alpine restyle
    Cerwin vega vpas
    pioneer ts
    rockford ps-8
    Kenwood ksc

Dont get anything under $150, it will be trash.
