The dot is a app called like touch assistant. Click that app and it gives you the option to turn it off.

So I got to thinking about why the JBL system does this, and it came to me. The JBL system uses a line level signal to drive the amp, but the joying headunit is not sending a standard line level style signal, its sending a speaker level. Its the difference between trying to run a standard amp off the speaker leads on the headunit... its too much voltage for the line level to deal with so it goes into protection mode.

I think you need a line level converter, and some rca to bare speaker wire adapters.

If you got something like this, then you could wire a line level driver from the headunit to the speaker cables (pretty much just put one of these inline with gray/white wires) Radio goes into the bare wires on the converter, then using the rca to wire adapter run them to the rest of the harness.

Also wouldn't the maestro not work with this. Just wondering since all units that use it have a maestro serial port that plugs right into the headunit from the controller. And isn't the impedance changed at the amp and not the headunit. I mean you could run any head unit into an amp that runs to different ohm loads as long as the amp matches. Like running out into an amp to a sub at 1/2ohm load and then to door speakers at 4ohm as long as they match. Its the amp that effects it. Otherwise you would thermal quick, headunit or amp would shut off. Least that's my thinking.

So impedance is not a amp/headunit thing. Impedance is what the speakers run at. there is no such thing a 4 ohm amp or 2 ohm amp, there are 2 ohm stable amps, but that just means they can play a speaker that is down to 2 ohms, the amp itself is not 2 ohms.

A amp/headunit runs wattage out, sure impedance will effect the amp, but thats due to speaker side changes. If you try to push 15 watts down a input that normally only takes a few volts, you may run into issues as we are seeing with the JBL systems.

The maestro kits convert high level inputs to low level inputs so that the factory amp can properly run.

I just adjusted the input levels and I’m all good now. Found the touch assistant after I realized it was an app lol. Anytime rear cam works also. Gonna run a splitter/switch to see if I can get front cam back or see if joying makes a multi cam harness. The video in on the headunit doesn’t work for another cam, nothing in the options to select video unless I’m missing it. Their is also 4 built in launchers as well. Trying the agama one now. And have to find v3 of power amp so I can use the skins. V2 says they aren’t compatible at this time.

When you say you adjusted the input levels what are you referring to? And is this able to stop the cutting out of audio?

Maestro RR installed and it's doing its thing. No car info, no steering wheel controls, but I have back-up camera and no cutting out of sound. The Maestro unit has an LED on it and it is seeing the steering wheel button presses, but the Joying unit does nothing. I've found several articles/videos online that show the "Key 1" and "Key 2" marked wires on the Joying unit (that lead to the canbus device) are for steering wheel controls. The Maestro steering wheel control is done via a 3.5mm jack. I had a 3.5mm splitter so cut the female end off that and spliced open the wires. There was a red and white and then the ground. When I hook the red and white up to the Key 1 & Key 2, the Joying unit's LED triggers, but nothing happens. At a bit of a loss as to what to do next and open to suggestion.

On the plus side, the Maestro unit with the associated Toyota wiring harness, doesn't require very much splicing. Only 7 wires:

So i am thinking @5nahalf is right. The Meastro kit converts high to lows but also has wiring to connect steering controls which we already have as the joying unit was pretty much plug and play out of the box. We only need to convert the high levels to low on the speakers and nothing more. Your Meastro kit is converting the level now which is why you do not have sound cutting out but there are obviously other wires connected to try to connect steering controls. I am going to try to get a converter and an adapter and see if this works. My only gripe is i don’t have a diagram to show which speaker wire goes where.

My Joying head unit has a sticker on the top of it that shows the wiring diagram. Does yours not have it? I can attach a picture of it here if you need.

I've updated the firmware, reset, and still getting drops. Joying should have canbus controller update but they do not. I tried this in a corolla and same issue. Touch screen is also laggy in prompt presses. Have to push most buttons multiple times for it to register. Could've dealt the loss of front cam, and a few other things. Joying sent a different firmware to try , gonna later. Not worth it to me to have to rewire . I'll update later.

So just getting around to order this. Do I need to order two rca to speaker wire adapters. One for the front and the other for the back?

In not 100% but I think you will need front and rear, I'm layed up in the hospital right now, so my resources are pretty limited to help.

C'mon man. Catching West Nile and almost dying is not a good enough excuse for not helping a couple of internet strangers troubleshoot a problem with equipment you don't own.

I expected better of you OP

Has this official write up happened yet? Interested in seeing it! If it hasn't happened yet, would be nice to have a pros vs cons you have found as well as maybe a list of factory features that one will lose. thank you!

So I added the line converter and the first thing i notice is the sound level is really low. If the radio is turned all the way up it sounds like it would be around the mid point on the OEM radio. At times with outside noise its hard to hear. I haven’t driven it long enough to see if I get any audio cutting out as of yet but I have a lengthy trip tomorrow where I will test it out.

A few listed in the signature
Does anyone know how to change the button backlight color? I just installed mine today and it is a teal color. Nice but I’d prefer a matching blue to the rest.
