Yep. I updated to the newest firmware and it works great now. I should have just done that first. Thanks for the input and thanks for keeping up with this great thread.

@5nahalf What are your thoughts on the audio processor on the joying unit? It seems like you upgraded everything together so I dont know if you can compare this one to the factory one. I upgraded my speakers, and I have my front speakers running off a 4 channel amp, it sounds pretty decent but I wanted to upgrade the headunit and I've had my eyes on this one for about a year, I'm still a little undecided since it's chinesium and I dont know if I'm better off getting a brand name head unit or not.

First, pretty much all headunits are made in china, some just cost more than others.

As for the sound quality, im not sure since Its all run through my DSP. But I ran its internal amp for a day, its way louder than the OEM radio, I never really got past volume 5, with my DSP I can get up to volume 20 before its too loud ( I like to have many steps between off and full volume )

I’m new to this car audio stuff. Doesn’t the head unit still process the audio before sending it to an external amp through the 4v RCA output?

Yes it does, I guess i dont have a good answer for you then as I have only run it from the headunit to the DSP then to the amps. The output looks pretty good coming into the DSP, but I dont have much to compare it to as the last system I installed was around 2001.

My friend has a kilpsch sound system at his house and man is the sound quality breath taking. It’s my latest obsession lol. But yeah, just trying to put together the best setup possible.

I can experiment on my unit tonight and let you know. On Carplay, I've been using "Hey Siri" which works well. Wish I could map my voice button on steering wheel to Siri though

Anyone get this to work on a 2019 or newer? Joying just sent me a new unit that was a "US Version." I just messed around with it for about 2 hours. All the major issues I was having with the previous unit seems to be gone but I still can't get the steering wheel controls or the cameras to work. Haven't tried the firmware yet but there's too many sayings of "it worked right out of the box" for me to want to do that already. I tried a few different Canbus settings and nothing worked. One even made it worse.

Did you get the can-bus version?

If you did, there are car settings to select your car. I used 2013 rav4 of my car and the things work.

Your camera may not be plugged in right. Check to make sure its plugged in.

Yes I got the canbus version. And yes the camera is plugged in correctly. None of my steering wheel controls work at all. Which exact settings for the RAV4? And is yours a 2019 or 2020?

2019 here. You can go in and mess with your wheel settings.

I have a 2018, same radio as the 2019. Mine doesnt support the tacoma, so I have to select rav4 as my model for the canbus system. The new models may support tacomas, but if your controls dont work then chances are you dont have a car selected.

And was that with the canbus settings set as XP->Toyota->Else->XP2013?

I figured out a easy way to pull the bottom of the screen all the way into the bezel for those of you who have the lip at the bottom.

Put some painters tape under the bottom of the radio, it will give you a little pull tab that you can use to pull the radio out and flush with the bezel. then pull at a angle and the tape comes off.

I guess it's just my truck? Tried all the above Canbus settings. No matter what, steering controls don't work, backup cam doesn't either. And unless I finagle the wiring, the volume always goes up by itself and it forces the screen to phone app. Even without the phone connected.

Double check all your connections, perhaps the canbus module is not seated all the way or there are some crossed wires somewhere.
