3rd gen audio build - Joying tacoma headunit

mine has been rock solid after filing out where the microphone port is on the back side of the unit. just took a bit with a circular file. previously it had been touching the metal housing and causing all kinds of audio quality issues.

only 2 slight annoyances im curious if anyone has encountered and has any pointers on

1. the volume randomly turning down on its own. this just started happening the past few months and very annoying. seems to be out of nowhere
2. no matter what, the time displayed is always wrong. it says its 8am every single time i start it up. tried every deferent time zone setting to to avail.

 

does the joying use a resistive touch screen?

in the past, i've come across this problem where the bezel around the radio will expand/contract with the weather and end up placing pressure on the edges of the screen, which can result in phantom touchscreen inputs.

 

Its a knob on these units (the main reason I got mine)

The volume issue, does it jump down then come back up, or does it fade in and out?

 

Does the joying unit have a separate video inputs for a secondary camera as well as an av input?

 

Yes, it has an extra input on the back. I use mine for a front camera.

 

So oem rear camera has separate input? Also can you llook at the front camera while driving?

 

Yes, there are two video inputs on the back. One plugs into the rear camera harness that triggers in reverse. The other input is triggered by opening an app on the headunit. It can be turned on whenever.

 

Thanks, i dont have the anytime camera kits, so i would be running a separate rca cable. Couldnt get a definitive answer on it.

Also, did you run into any gps google maps issues when no cell coverage? One of my main uses would be for offline maps. It seems like some people had gps only working if there was wifi or cell coverage.

 

Honestly I’ve never had to use the internal maps. Wireless CarPlay works so well that I’ve never had the need.

 

Hey y’all! Just installed my Joying HU.

Everytime I go on reverse, the audio completely stops- then after I shift back to drive, the audio continues. Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it?

Yes its normal, and its my favorite feature. I believe you can change it in the settings, but I have never had the need to.

Hey All, about a few months ago Joying updated something on the HU and my "Shift to Park door unlock" stopped working. I was using the RZC>Toyota>Hilux>2015-2018, there is no Tacoma option in any setting that I have found. Anyone experiencing this and perhaps found a solution? Joying support is no help in this matter

Can someone snap a photo of their APN settings for me? Mines showing 4G but not getting service yet. I know this is usually a minor thing that just requires tweaking the APN settings. A few months ago I ran a Google FI card and had to tweak it also for it to work. Thanks!

 

Hey All, is no one else having the issue where the doors do NOT automatically unlock when you shift into park?

 

Has anyone successfully installed an Anytime Camera kit? I see some have and some havent but no word on how it actually connects to these HU.
