3rd gen audio build - Joying tacoma headunit

I have not confirmed it, but I would shoot the person who posted it a msg and confirm with them.

 

So i installed my headunit using the new harness https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-toyota-canbus-harness-support-factory-360-camera.html and I can confirm that it is literally plug and play with the JBL system. No cutting wires or messing with the canbus settings. Speakers sound great. Much better than the Entune. Everything worked from the start. My question is.....Should I install the update to the latest firmware? Right now i'm running android 10 from 2020.

 

If you plan to update, just be aware that it erases everything in your settings and you will have to redo them all (including steering wheel controls)
But to answer your question more directly, I have done all the updates that my headunit could do, and I never actually noticed a change.

 

Has anyone found a working version of Youtube TV that works on the Joying Units? I have tried a few different APKs but no luck. The app loads but the video will not play. Eventually I get an error message stating that the video is not supported on this device.

 

Additionally, does Kodi work?

Did they ever come up with a different CAN bus adapter to get some of the information back to the dashboard?

 

Has anyone updated from the old Joying headunit (Android 8) to a newer one (Android 10)? Wondering if its still buggy or if its just the same but newer.

 

Any luck? Ive been looking at the XDAforums for a solution but not sure what would work.

 

I see there is a newer model on the Joying site for 16+ Tacoma. Has anyone tried it yet?

It is listed under the Tacoma and is running Android 12

 

New one looks pretty good. I might have to upgrade mine to the newest one. Mine is still the original one that came out in early 2019. Mine still works just fine, but a updated layout would be nice to have.

 

I might need to upgrade as well. My current unit is from 2019/20 and has a issue where it disconnects Android Auto sporadically and reconnects after 10-15 seconds. This is with a quality usb cable. I have even tried a good wireless adapter and it disconnect/reconnect just as much if not more. Very frustrating.

 

Looks like this one have option for TRD and SR5 bezel sizes.

 

That newer version looks good! The curved bottom edges kinda throw me off though.

 

I’ve emailed these guys a few times explaining everything I lost as far as dash displays with the Joying unit.
They claim I will get all the information back with their unit.
