Lol that’s your opinion, and I have mine. I was driving a 2003 auto Tacoma and the 3rd gen is a 10000x better transmission. Guessing you’re one of the complainers, you must have been driving a sports car before.

Wait- you don’t even own one do you? “Directly off the lot” vs driving mine through practically all the states in the US with 50k on the odometer. Wonder whose opinion carries more weight here.

My previous vehicle was a 3/4 ton diesel pickup. Did you test drive before you bought?

It is a rather small engine with the toque curve favoring higher RPMs. But I find once you get accustomed to it's idiosyncrasies it preforms just fine in most situations. I don't tow much and do most of my driving on relatively flat roads with only soft rolling hills if any. By design it's not going to hold 6th gear very well when power is needed to overcome a hill or such especially with CC active. CC wants to get back to the set speed quickly and I think reacts much more aggressively than a person in control of the throttle would resulting in almost guaranteed down shift especially 6 to 5.

Those that are concerned about the constant 6 to 5 down shift might try S mode with the upper limit set at 5th. This might even improve mpg if you're driving on very hilly roads as that power punch would be less pronounced.
