why bother with it, common sense tells you just go and buy a manual trans truck, and saying that the manual trans truck don't have the trim level as an excuse for such foolishness is a ridiculous reason to even think of a an idiotic idea like this. it would cost more to accomplish this nonsense than it would to just buy a factory equiped manual trans version

Because you can’t start the engine with push start unless the gear selector is on P, which you cannot replicate “as it is” on a manual with manual ECM. I assume it would cause some type of internal error where smart key chip asks for the position of the gear selector, while ECM not even having input/output for gear selector.

You can’t start a vehicle with a key unless it’s in park either. But somehow that works fine with a manual.

90% of the naysayers here probably have never changed their oil, much less rebuilt an engine, or replaced a clutch and pressure plate. OP asks if anyone has done it, they have. The main question is it doable and is it worth it. It’s up to the OP to decide based on his research and the little real advice he’s received so far. :)

Are you referring to the clutch position sensor in a MT?

I would assume the truck has multiple sensors including a clutch pedal ignition lock as well.

But in that case you still complete the circuit by turning the key. With push start you push a button, which triggers the push start chip to tell the ECM to start the engine. It requires two electronic components to communicate. I doubt this communication would work with two components that doesn’t recognize each other.

Plus, considering manuals also don’t come with remote start, I assume manual ECM might also not be able to control the starter.

its real easy to figure out, the scenario always plays out the same
#1 a new 3rd gen member(a babe in the woods) don't know much about trucks needs advice on how to do a ridiculous modification to a new $50k truck with 200 miles
#2 we have the helpful enablers try to come to his rescue with goofball ideas and support
#3 reality sets in and the breakdown by sane people intervene and the GIFs are launched
#4 the OP plays the victimization card by being hurt by the im a new guy and all these mean unhelpfull comments hurt my newbie feelings in order to draw in the Mods for a lockdown and or a banning (this is the main reason for the thread which is obvious) you can easily read the play by play everytime and figure it out.

As these components have more and more software dependencies, you all have to worry about different versions of software yielding different results.

A nightmare scenario is looking for pulled parts because new parts, and most used trucks having newer incompatible software.

Anyone who starts a big project before doing any research is a moron. I honestly didn't think this would be such a dividing thread or even such an attention-getter. I do not just want attention. I want info, I want interesting conversation. If you can't accept that I would like to do something you wouldn't do, then just leave the thread? It's not your truck or your money.

It’s certainly possible that it wouldn’t work. I don’t know. I’m hoping someone can post the wiring diagrams. Then we can walk through the circuits and figure out how the push button works.

I already have way more miles on my truck as I make many trips from TN to FL and back. I do know how to work on trucks but I wanted a little help with specifics. If someone knew something that would make it impossible then I wouldn't do it. I'm not "hurt" or offended by unhelpful downers they are just super annoying. Its nothing new and I have experienced negative feedback before but that doesn't mean I like it. I enjoy interesting conversation about a project.

And if it doesn't work it doesn't work I honestly would just be glad to know! These people seem to think I just want positive feedback but if there is a major issue I want to stop while I'm ahead.

#5 plays the fake reality card over and over( with sentimental overtones) when in fact has a track record of nonsensical postings which plead for help and then go south. and are locked

So maybe you did not get exactly what you wanted when you posted your thread, I'd tell you to get over it as life is imperfect.

Honestly, when I first read this, I also thought you were new and therefore telling you what a bad idea would help you, and anyone else who might be of the same mindset.

You really can't control how people will respond and when they do not agree with you name calling and telling people to get out of your sandbox just looks worse.

I'm glad you replied, because the last post really had me convinced you were not real. Good luck and just remember that sometimes the guy who is really being helpful, is the guy telling you not to jump.

It's the way in which you said it was a bad idea that therefore only made me want to do it more. I shouldn't have responded as I did but if you were trying to help, a more genuine tone would probably be more effective.

That was a misunderstanding and I tried to apologize. I definitely didn't want to tick off a guy that knowledgeable but I thought his sig was the message
