Anyone ever use the RockAuto TYC headlights for a retrofit? Definitely want to try this myself but not 100% confident on my stock heads, nor do i want to shell out a grip of money for a (potential) practice part. @mesojdm thoughts?

Would be a good place to start without worrying about messing up your Oem's. Typically the aftermarkets are a lot easier to crack apart as they tend to use butyl instead of Permaseal. How much are the TYC?

For some reason my area doesn't carry the "fusion" like anymore(it might be discontinued?) and all I have found is the MAXX version of krylon. Lays down and holds up the same to me. Matte FTW

I couldn't find the Fusion either when I did mine last year..I used the MAXX and I haven't had any issues.

I thought I remember reading somewhere online that Krylon was 86'd and the MAXX was the new replacement.

Must be a regional thing. My local Ace and Walmart carry plenty of Fusion but I have never seen MAXX. Home Depot and Lowe’s seem to only carry Rustoleum which I don’t like as much.

Do it and report back, if they use butyl instead of permaseal I think we will start to see many more BHLMs and retros.

Just looked up a set with DRL, they seem to be around $600/pair. At that price I would just pick up some minty used OEMs and battle through the permaseal.

Well I hope the TYC housings are not too bad since I'm going with different projectors and new look. I went this route since my luck with used OEMS has not worked out.

popped 1 headlight open and painted it a combination of gloss black and some matte. still haven't scraped the old sealant yet- too tedious. i might try the dremel method. i have some switchback halos but i think im liking it more simple

@johnny6 looks great. Did you do anything else or just a BHLM?
They are so much work to open and clean, I scream a little inside when people don't do any performance modifications while they're open. Maybe it's the light whore inside me...

It's much easier to remove the perma seal when it's heated till it's barely piable (kinda like rubber band ish). You can pull it out in a single strip received_1866380113372638.jpg
