First time was a struggle for me as well. I'm just offering the best advice I can with the experience I've gained. The less manipulation from tools you do the less chance you have of mauling up the edge/ridge etc.

There may be some pictures on here that may help out. The lights are apart and all is visible.

Once you do a few it's a cakewalk. I do 290° for 10-15min. I start on the side where the turn signal is. Just trying to man handle it apart will result in deformation of the bucket and/or lens.
First I take a flat head and go around the whole perimeter. NOT trying to pull the housings apart, just breaking the seal of the OEM sealant has on the lens.
    Then I use this tool.
It works like a charm. They are like reverse pliers, when You squeeze, they open. I wedge them in the pre-opened channel and the light starts separating. From there, just grab and gently/slowly pull them apart.

For re-sealing, the most critical part is a proper seal. Remove ALL the old material.
Here is what the channel should look like
    [IMG]
To remove the old rubber, I have tried all different techniques; solvent, heat gun, dremel, etc. Believe it or not... none of them worked the best. Either made a big mess or was just too troublesome.
I use a single flat head, no heat, no tricks. Just pry under it and "roll" it out. I almost got the entire OEM sealant out in 1 strand doing it like this.
    Here's a quick video

Not too bad. About an hour each light to clean the channels. Tedious, but necessary. Then just paint it whatever color you want and put em back together(with new sealant of course)

I'm tackling these in September. I don't wanna struggle as much as I did with the Tacoma., I did numerous cycles of 240 @ 10min and no way I was able to "pull" apart by hand. After breaking seal with screwdriver and some prying with the reverse pliers ya.

    So higher and longer? Lol
