I feel your pain.... Sliced my thumb at the nail it hurt like hell.... I got most of it out except for tiny micro bits that were impossible to remove, i just sealed them with retro rubber and hoped for the best. Guess ill find out soon enough... Just need a rainy day to find out if i did a good enough job.

I was almost thinking about putting it in the freezer. It's 100* ambient right now, and it's very mushy. Sort of dreading the next one :angrygirl:

Obvisouly the more you remove the better . All you are trying to do is create a new channel for the retrorubber to sit and and not stick out too far. That way the lens will seat properly and make a good seal.

Just finished one of mine. I really like the SR DRL over the LED strip.

I left a small chrome ring around the Projectors, and didn't tint the Side Marker.

I still need to figure out why my High Beam Splitters won't work :frusty:

Thanks @mesojdm for posting up for the little people!

    Some things I found helpful:
    1. Tape the light before you pull it. I scratched both on the edge of the fender, very sharp!
    2. Make sure you have nothing going the weekend you decide to do it. I was rushed the whole time and not having fun.
    3. Order/ get the good paint. I used Krylon Color Max, and it layed down like shit. Can't really tell when the lens is on, but it looked like shit before I put it back together.

And no, this didn't get the scratch out, but it sure made the lenses sparkle :bananadance:

That is awesome!. Did you reheat after the lens was pulled in order to get the perma seal out.

I'll see how long the first one I did lasts. I figure it was a learning experience, and worth the loss, even though it turned out pretty good.

Nope. In fact, the OEM sealant was almost easier to get out cold. Its a slow process, but slow and steady with a flat head "rolling it out" like my video. No cleanup afterwards, because the channel has no residue. I almost got 1of the buckets permaseal out in 1 continuous strip...

@mesojdm killer writeup man. I hope this hasn't already been asked, but can the projector retrofit be done without splitting? I may want to do the paint sooner than the projectors (financial constraints).

Thanks! No, the housing has to come apart for both painting and projector swap. That's why I advice to do them at the same time.

I agree! But I've grown bored of the regular BHLM, so I've started another build. First world problems..

Once I installed the hids I'm realizing I'm really not a fan of the DRL
I may open them back up and spray them with the tint spray as well
And white the smudges that are on the projector lenses

Hard to keep the dust out too eh? I put mine back on the truck after my retrofit and realized there was a cat hair in one of them. :annoyed:

Hahaha. It's only noticeable from like 2 feet away so it doesn't bother me much......anymore.
