Oh hell dude, get that changed under warranty before you start messing with them. That’s on them to correct, and you’re going to be super disappointed if you can’t get them out and make it worse by messing with them.

Someone in another thread got their headlight replaced under warranty because there was a run in the chrome paint for the reflector. You shouldn’t have any problems getting that replaced under warranty.

I totally understand that, and I will say, i miss my OEM lights from my trd pro. I did a retrofit and went ahead and used TRD offroad headlights and did satin black inside but i really liked the gloss black internals. They just seemed darker for some reason. Either way, getting rid of the chrome on the front of your truck is going to make it look 100X better whichever way you do go...

Testing a concept since paint won't stick to halo coating for long term. Will let this set up for 24hrs and then turn it on for 8hrs to see if it holds up to the heat? Supposed to be good up to 200°. 20190215_163757.jpg

6hrs and so far I think it's going to work? Few more hrs to make sure. These get warm but not hot.

Well after 12hrs on everything held up just fine. It does get fairly hot after time. May not be the best way but I think it will hold up for quite some time. Now I just need my headlight back. :pout:

I'm not gonna lie, I've done a ton of retrofits, lens swaps, etc. over the years on my cars and opening these headlights and prepping for BHLM was more than I expected. I'm a strong dude with good headlight mod experience and it was a fight. I'm not sure what y'alls big black plastic headlight bodies look like afterwards, but I hope they end up looking a little beat up too with some pry marks, maybe a little melt spot or two, lol. That tiny corner on the outside of the headlight where the lens tucks into the plastic body???? There's now way that's not ending up with any trauma lol. The lenses and guts are fine and I'm sure it will reseal fine and that's what's important but damn...

Then after hour 2 of scraping the permaseal out of the channels and your fingers are sore and burning, you are questioning your own will to live. I applaud those that have made the journey before me.

If you're not comfortable being on the fine line of breaking expensive headlights, this mod isn't for you. You get to the point where the seal is already compromised and you know you have nowhere to go but forward so you do. Bless these fine men and women that do this for you. There's a special place in heaven for them. I was considering doing some basic BHLM turns for folks, but no way.

Ah well, hard part is done. Now it's time for fun. Pics soon.

Oh man! I was just asking @theretrofitsource about how to go about making the semi-circle since they do not have an 80mm for our tacos! They told me people just paint over the halo but my concern was the heating of the halo itself but was told to Google and see what others have done.

What did you end up using? It's been a few days so curious as to how they held up with the heat over 24hrs! PM me if you don't mind!

Finally on the other side. It was not fun but at least changes will be a lot easier now.

I was trying to do something different and just slightly dim the chrome buckets with that duplicolor shadow chrome kit but it laid down SOOOOO poorly and uneven that I had to go gloss black.

I did keep the chrome circle around the projector, I thought it was a nice touch. I'll post pics when done.

Hey guys, I think this is the big thread on bhlm so I'll post it here for others since it is important. The lenses as you know are very clear from the factory inside and out, so when new, you don't see much glare on the lenses from the bulbs.

I've done enough retrofits that I know touching the inside of the clear lenses is a no-no. They are very very prone to scratches since they aren't coated like the outside. So, when I did the headlights, I didn't touch the inside and kept the work area clean.

After my bhlm, the headlights looked very clear until the headlights were on. Then I see glare off the inside of the lenses. It isn't much, but it wasn't there before and it is bugging me. It probably barely effects light output, but I can see it.

    IMG_20190303_180711.jpg

So, either the lens oxidized or something or the paint was still outgassing when I baked it back together. I will note, that I did clay the outside of the headlights today and there was some crap on the outside. So, as part of this process, this can happen, and I'm hoping one of the pro guys has guidance for the rest of us.

Well I like how the profile prism RGB is a, idk how to say it, but smooth looking with the phosphorous silicone coat vs the DD angel eyes that have the leds exposed....the dotty looking halos. I also watched a side to side comparison video of demon eyes from DD and Morimoto and the light output IS brighter from DD....but the color starts to get away bc of how bright they are... where as the prism demon eyes aren't as bright but the color is more accurate.

My original bhlm has finnaly failed. Moisture in one housing keeps burning up my low beams (at least that's what I'm thinking).

New housings have been ordered from USR. I am planning to retrofit and do a halo. I currently have the hid kit from TRS, can I use this ballast with an adapter/new bulbs? Also, what size halo for this projector?

Here is what I'm looking at, hopefully I am on the right track and this is the correct projector. https://www.theretrofitsource.com/morimoto-retroquik-koito-rx350.html
