I want a cap on my bed, but I don't want to pay current cap prices

I've thought about a softopper, but I'm not sold on it.

    I didn't buy a 4runner because they don't come with manual transmission.

Did I win first in thread to brag about driving a manual??:crapstorm:

I think it's because I'm insecure about my inability to commit decisions and I don't want to advertise that with my removable/noncommittal topper

I guess one actual concern I have would be if I'm loading it up to the brim, I'd feel more confident in the sides of a solid topper withstanding the side-load when cornering compared to the canvas and snaps of a softopper.

I get you. I had some worries before ordering, but it exceeded my expectations. I even thought that I would remove it for the summers and quickly put it back on after the first try.

The frame is pretty stout and the canvas adds support under tension. I had it completely loaded for a trip to AZ through the Cali coast including 1 and 101 the whole way. Never a worry even when overcooking a couple corners.

I'd have 600 pounds of snow in my box that would turn into water in my garage then ice in my box. Rinse and repeat.

It sure would. I'd probably have one if they still made 'em.
My buddy in college had a manual 2nd gen 4runner. I didn't appreciate how cool it was at the time, it just seemed like some old hand-me-down SUV from his parents.

A friend of mines mom had a late 80’s 4Runner, I always wanted one but never had one. Would love to have one with the removable top.

Anybody seen these lockable covers? They look cheap and flimsy but a good idea and better than the plastic ones. Found these on the flea bay.

Not bad. It looks like it would be easy to add a gasket?

Does the camlock engage with the new covers or in the existing box?

    How much?

    Linky? :D

I ran a "Works" [brand] corded leaf blower from mine once... worked ok; but was definitely not at 100%... more like 75% but for the situation it worked and was far superior to the alternative (Broom and dust pan)

Oh yeah, the hedge trimmer worked great from the bed plug, I used it maybe 5 minutes total though.

Shortly after getting my truck a friend asked for help trimming the bottom off a door.
With some quick and very inaccurate mental math to calculate watts, I thought I could run my skilsaw off the bed outlet. Did not work :anonymous:
