After taking a glance at the new 3rd gen, I've come to the conclusion it isn't for me. The self dampening tailgate with the smart key is just too much for me to handle. Why would a need a self dampening tailgate if I have two hands? Better yet, look at that air dam! Horrendous... absolutely horrendous

It's hideous. My garage literally pukes it out onto my driveway every morning.

The self dampening tailgate is pretty awesome. Especially if your hands are full

Ha! I'm getting old so use the home link.

I love the truck but don't mind if others hate it. I find it humorous. I like the gen 1 and 2 tacos too. I've got a nephew with a Hilux and that's cool too!

I agree with the OP on the tailgate, plus it takes to long to open all the way, I hate waiting. Headed back to the dealer first thing in the morning and make them buy this truck back. lol

He will probably hate the self driving feature of the 4th gen because he has 2 hands, 2 legs and can drive a car.

Well, maybe if you worked out of your truck for a living you'd understand. When my hands are full of tools and I only have a few fingers free to use the latch and don't want the tailgate crashing down,a self dampening tailgate comes in very handy. As far as the air dam to each his own. I don't personally care for it so I bought the OR but if you feel the need to bash those who do,then carry on. :argue:

When you know you're going to be busy carrying stuff back and forth to the truck, can you not open the tailgate before hand?

of course. But isn't it also possible that every once in a while you may find your hands full and need to open the tailgate, and not want to slam it? And couldn't you just not post a thread complaining about the opening of a tailgate or a removable piece of plastic that not even all 3rd gens come with? Seems like all of the above would be a win.

The tailgate is the best part of a 3gen. Both the look/lettering, 'spoiler' effect and the self damping.

Can't wait to have someone retrofit the self damping mechanism into a 2gen and do a photo write up. (seriously)

And if someone could measure the width of the tailgate, I'd like to compare it to the 2gen gate. Could be a skin graft is in order too.

Yup, and all the viewers of this thread have yet to read anything entertaining/interesting/funny, which is pretty common in BS threads. So do us all a favor and maybe edit your first post to steer it that way.
