Has anybody tried running a 3rd gen camper shell on a 2nd gen? I'm moving from Nevada to Alaska in a few weeks and my local dealer has a 3rd gen shell available. Ordering a 2nd gen shell will take 6 to 8, maybe longer with all the covid bs, and I'll be gone by then. I understand the beds might have changed some, but I can't picture them having changed a whole lot and I know camper shells can be a little loose fitting sometimes. Just seeing if this is a possibility. If this doesn't work, I'm just goint to part it out.

They are different at the tailgate. 2nd gen tailgate is lower than it is at the sides, 3rd gen is the same height all the way around.

No mechanical mods. Minor convience and useability tweaks.
Third gen trucks also have a definite curve at the top, vs being flat on gen 2's. I believe the glass is the same, but the molding is curved to match and will stick out way too far on a gen 2. The moldings aren't available separately.
