And what good did that do? Was it returned to you (after you probably had a new one installed)? Did the PD or methheads gracious show up at your door with with their checkbook to pay to have it installed and cover all your costs & inconveniences?

Got me my cat back before I had to buy a new one. Yeah I had to pay to get it welded in but I was able to testify against that guy and he’s paying me back. Something that would have never happened if it wasn’t traceable

I live in South Texas, we just had our 2nd hottest summer of all time. 58 days of 100+temps and there was no overheating issues. There are no nearby wires and my carpet/truck did not melt. (Your cabin is insulated) Remember this is your exhaust system...it is going to get very hot. There is plenty of ventilation on the Cat security cover...its not air tight. There are plenty of gaps front/back/sides.

CAT theft is chronic in my area.
My daughter's Prius was hit twice.
We have the local muffler shop weld anti-theft cable or rebar onto all of our CATs.

I got a set of CaliRaised covers. The product is good, their CS is extremely irritating.

Get extra bits when you order, they treat you like felon if you contact them asking about what size the security bit is. Will never deal with them directly again. They treated this like a national secret. Required me to provide an invoice before they would even sell me a spare bit. I was in the house and didn’t want to go to the shop in the rain to see what size the bit was.

The bit is a #40 by the way….. available at many tool retailers.

I got a cat shield in case I have to park behind my garage in the alley. A neighbor had one stolen from his old rusty ranger one night. It would make a lot of racket trying to cut that shield, and I do have an equalizer. lol

    Definitely a dealer add-on.

My dealer wouldnt sell the 5.7 tundras without the cat shields on, they were stolen so frequently.

at cost i'm sure :D but really they ought to be standard and made at the factory to keep costs down. they know there is a problem. 3rd party not the way to go at the factory.

Here in the PRK, CAT theft is epidemic.
My daughter's Prius was nearly totaled as a consequence of CAT theft.

The owner of my favorite shop said his Dad's diesel smog stuff was ripped out of the truck.
Apparently, most of the under carriage of American diesels is smog control... wholesale cost of parts was over $7,000 plus huge labor to reinstall and repair.

I got my Cali Raised cat shields on today. I hope people are right when they say if a thief sees them they will go elsewhere. I believe that Cali Raised didn't want to cover the transmission for ease of service. However, all a thief has to do is slide under the truck and cut the converter out from the transmission side. Am I missing something here? Am I over-thinking this?

Hey! We made the shield design like this so it makes it harder for thieves to steal your cats. We understand that they can get around it or even cut through if they have the time, but the goal is to deter and make thieves realize its going to take a whole lot longer to steal your cats!

Gotcha. I'm not sure I am even going to bother with the tamper proof screws. Otherwise a good looking piece. Thank you.

Good morning! Anyone running a cat shield with a manual transmission which they are happy with? I really like the Cali Raised but unfortunately they don't offer a MT compatible version.

Can you still install skidplates with the cat shields? Thinking of getting some underbody protection down the road and don't want to buy the car shields if they'll be useless once the skids are installed.

"The kit includes a passenger and driver-side cat guard with security hardware and tools. The best part of this cat guard is, that it is compatible with 99% of the skid plates on the market. It's a complete bolt-on product that requires no drilling, welding, or modification to your vehicle."
