After about 4 months, my T3 high clearance with dual swingouts has finally arrived! Installed it this weekend and devirginized it already. Note that I’m in need of another jerry can and black locking lugs for the 5th wheel.

Will post more detail pics once I feed the tables installed this week.

Pretty painless. Cutting the bed gave me anxiety, but not bad. CBI has some short vids on their IG profile on that process. Other than that mounting the bumper was easy with a few extra hands.

Installing the swingouts was a little more difficult as the bearings need TLC and finesse in order to be seated correctly. I suggest you rent a bearing sleeve to help get it in properly. Oh and I highly recommend honing the inside and using grease to help get these installed.

Please note that instructions were not provided, so I did a bunch of research and video watching to install mine. In my next post, I will post instructions and link some references for everyone else to follow as needed.

I had a few questions on the rear skid plate:

Any idea if the rear skid plate would work with a OEM TRD Pro IFS skid? It appears to have a tab that would interface with the scallop on the backside of the OEM IFS skid.

CBI's website indicates 84 lbs for the rear skid. Does that seem about right for the steel one? If so, that would probably put the aluminum option at around 45 lbs.

Just to verify, other than at the edges of the rear plate, there are no reinforcements on the topside of the skid?

Did you happen to take any pictures of the top sides of the plates before you installed them?

Sorry, without the Pro skid, I don't know if it is compatible. Yes, 84# is about right. Aluminum is def lighter, but you lose protection compared to steel. Lastly, these are not gusseted, but still are very solid.

Sorry to hear! Yeah I almost went with PB’s HC but glad I went with CBI instead. I suggest ordering now before everybody places their order!!

Awesome man will do either here or on IG! I’ve been showing the wife pics of your T3 when it pops up on my feed to try and expedite my bumper order allowance :fistbump:

Thanks for the great pics. Looks like their overland skids are the same as PB’s 3-skid set.

Did you powder or spray paint those plates? Turned out well. My aluminum IFS is on its way out, and I’m on the fence for ordering steel skids pre-done or just spray them down for winter and sand them back down occasionally.

Should make this your build thread. Looks cherry

    Thanks brother!

I rattle canned it since it’s gonna get scratched up anyway. Took my time and prepped it well and sprayed a few coats to make it look good.

Nice. Gonna shoot them an email to get a shipping quote back home (no way to Hawaii). Their automated quote system gave me something outrageously high.. so here’s hoping.

You should edit the title of this thread and have her moved to the build section. Solid looks for CBI material ( goals for @justyr1 )
