OK! so, got the 4inch tube in, installed, and have initial thoughts/ review about it. 4 inch induction snorkel sucks...

...like a lot of air and it feels so much better than the 3 inch especially feeling all the "lag" and "stalling" complaints that people brought up in the past, i know as i had those complaints as well but it's all non-existent now. Truck doesn't need a second to get up and go meaning response is fairly good at higher RPMs. It just feels like the OEM intake and i think that's a good thing. The engine is pulling in all the air it needs and the 4" just lets prevents the bottle neck that was caused by the 3 inch. I wont say you gain anything by doing this other than the raised water line and maybe lack of dust at the end of the day? hard to say since i didn't throw sand into the cowl just yet... maybe come late October when all the leaves fall off, if i'll find one or something.

Overall it's hard to say what's actually causing the "feels better" bit since i also just recently updated to the OVT9 tune from @dave82at at YotaTune. But having the 3 inch in for about two weeks with OVT9 and initial impressions of the 4 inch intake with the same, the 4 inch definitely brings in some life to the truck. However, there is one downside to the 4 inch up size.

CHRIST it's loud at 4k RPM. @Saturnine can vouch, the truck certainly sounds different and not in a bad way.

everything under 2000 RPM is quite, same as you'd expect with the regular intake.
    2500 you start heading a burble/ rumble
3000 ish you start getting more volume
3500 hear the engine's rumble, burble disappears and you have the higher-pitches come into the cabin
4000 stars to really get loud
    4500 levels off

Have a video here in hopes to capture what's going on.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q57z9BhKnwU

    0:02 - 2500 RPM ish,
    0:03 - 3000
    0:07 - 3500
    0:09 - 4000
    0:11 - 4200 ish

most of the rest of the video is just normal level traffic/ driving, stuff i'd say i would experience 9 times out of 10.
at lower RPMs, 1500-2000 just nothing, fairly quiet

Alongwith this, here is the "build montage"

Step1) create an artificial problem, one that new tools with solve

    IMG_20230924_180408490.jpg

    Step 2)
design print and cut the template

step 3) rinse and repeat, add extra parts:
    IMG_20230926_125207271_HDR.jpg

Step 4) measure and design shit in CAD. and then the other CAD
    IMG_20230928_154654822.jpg
    IMG_20230928_182640616.jpg

    Step 5) assemble and compare
    IMG_20230928_234919774.jpg
    IMG_20230929_085512759.jpg

step 6) RTV everything in place

    IMG_20230929_133003587.jpg

    IMG_20230929_171801427_HDR.jpg
    step7)
fill in gaps with more RTV

@Shveet w your 3D skills, you could just model/print a new air box, complete w OEM plug, and pipe to the cowl. Then, sell to the luddites, make millions, and world domination!

When you installed this, did you take off the metal caps that come with it? Did you just attach it directly to the duck mounting plate with a hose clamp?

Metal caps off, hose clamped around the pipe onto the flanges, still solid

Can't speak for him but when I first did the mod it was noticeable on WOT, but after a couple starts and the ecu relearned its just as loud as stock (or I'm just used to the noise :anonymous:)

Did you drill other holes in your crowl for more air? Do you have any photos? I only drilled the 3" hole into the crowl going to the air box

Only drilled out the passenger side, I can't remember why but I think the driver side was more problematic and I figured I'd see how the truck did without it lmao. No issues at all in ~2 years of having the truck like this, no hvac backpressure or anything. But I would definitely take the time to open up that drain hole if you could
