Looking into getting a Dash Cam for taco because I've seen too much dumb people on the road. Has anybody have a good recommendation on brands and any tips on installing them? Also what's the process on hardwiring them so there is barely any wiring visible?

Blackvue is pricey, but great cameras.

I would recommend a blackvue camera.
Up there in terms of price, but for all the features and benefits it comes with, I would say it is worth the purchase.
Thinkware F800 Pro is also at the same ranks of the Blackvue. But comes with lane departure, collision? and traffic movement assist, useful if you have a 2018 prior model.

Parking mode, partitioned recording, and remote streaming is a must for me. With the additional battery pack, I can always record whats happening around my truck.

I have a Thinkware 800 Pro. I am totally happy with it. One of the considerations for purchasing it was that it is 2 channel capable which allows a rear facing camera to be installed as well. As far as installation goes, you can hardwire it using fuse taps fairly easily if you want to go the DIY route. I personally took my truck to a professional installer to get it put in.

I got a cheap Ebay dash cam that hooks into the go-pro mount. I ran the wire all around the window frame & under the dash and plugs into the 12volt plug in the centre console. I use a 32gb card.

    It's good enough for me....

I have the auto-vox X2 and have been pretty happy with it. Does front and rear recording and logs GPS data (which may be something to note if you're a bit of a lead foot). I'm going to go back through to clean up the wires a bit, and potentially remove the stock rear view and mount this as the main once it cools down a bit outside (hot in dallas forever...). The other thing I like about it is getting way more rear view because the rear camera sits above the rear headrests.

My wife's car has an older A118C which also works great in her Subaru.

I just got the OEM Toyota dashcam installed. 1080p is good enough, and it's an OEM part.

Hey all, I've gone through about 5-7 dash cams in the past few years and this one is the best one, even compared to one's that I spent 3x the amount on. It shoots 1080p, no IR reflectors afaik and it has an APP that you can connect to and download video directly to your phone. This was crucial for me since I hated taking out the SD card and manually transferring it. I've been running this for 3 weeks now and am VERY impressed and happy

Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
I originally got the rexxing vlg1 which was a front camera with a second rear camera. Liked it except for one major flaw. Can't instantly play back video. I want to be able to show the cop ON SCENE exactly what happened rather than wait until court.

This is the one I'm getting, which does play back (and is Cali legal since it's not on the windshield itself).

KDLINKS R100 Ultra HD 1296P Front + 1080P Rear 280° Wide Angle Anti-Glare Rearview Mirror Dual Lens Dash Cam with IPS 5" Screen, Superior Night Mode, Advanced Dashcam Parking Mode, Support 64/128GB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L17EMP4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DNSNBbECZ9S4T

One more thing, because of the pick up bed, our rear windows are further away than most other cars, esp on the LB. If you want to be able to pick out a license plate from the rear camera, make sure you get a higher resolution one. 720p won't cut it.

I've got Blackvue dash cams in the taco and in my wife's car. They were expensive, but well worth the cost, imo.

This issue was pointed out to me in another dash cam thread.
It seems that some states require signage in the cab if your dash cam or any other audio recording device is actively recording audio. I didn't believe it until I looked it up in the California Vehicle code. Sure enough, California requires a sign placed stating that audio is being recorded. Signage must be placed where other drivers and passengers can see it.

Now, IDGAF and I record audio continuously, and will not post signage in my cab. YMMV

Blackvue 2channel hard wired in. Pulled from the BMW and works great in the taco.
