Have these symptoms been present since day 1? Especially prior to changing the tires?

Hey it's still a job though. If you work for TW that is.

It's not redlining, it's running at over 5000 rpm in order to maintain a speed of 80 on the interstate. Don't know about how it did before the tires b/c I went straight over to the tire store and switched out. Driving the hour drive from town today with the cruise set at 75 it ran in 4th gear all the way, except for the downhill stuff, at just over 3000 rpm. Some of it it shifted down one more gear and ran for a while at just under 5 grand. Showed my tank economy in the high 12's to low 13's mpg. Maybe something the dealer can figure out since it sounds like I'm the only one with this issue. All this talk of tires and wind dams and mud weight makes me afraid to put a full bag of groceries in the truck...might take away 1-2 mpg!!

Someone with a 1st gen tacoma has KM2 33's and he gets 16-17 MPG.

Sadly as engines go smaller, things like 33's, lift(worse aerodynamics), bumpers will decrease MPG faster than with the torquier 4.0.

This mixed with VW's issues lowering all of their prices is making me think a Touareg is in my future. The prices have dropped $3-5,000 putting used prices right in line with a Tacoma.

I don't feel confident that the new Tacoma will tow my trailer with ease and get good MPG.

There's a distinct difference between amazing and good/decent gas mileage. Whenever I purchase a truck, I'm not gonna expect anything above 25 mpg. My point is that I'm not gonna complain over a 1 mpg difference between two trucks.

I'm talking gassers only. Diesel's incorporate a whole other ball game.

Typical stupid message board mentality.... you could work on vehicles for 50 years, know them inside and out, hell, you could have built the damn truck, but if you don't have at least 500 posts on this forum, you don't know anything. And you're probably a liar too.

I made an TW account a long time ago but never got into it. Until I started reading up on a lift and buy/selling on this site. Now I'm on this site daily to learn more and more.
You just might be right.

I get 18 mpg on highway. Sr5 v6 auto all stock. Kind of disappointing to be honest.

Maybe. from unofficial testing. The big appeal of diesels is both the fuel economy and the better economy while towing. However one review I read notes it only got 11.4 mpg while towing a 10ft 3200lb trailer...for a diesel that's garbage
